Really not very good

Don R. Hanson II, Amazon
23 July 2014
  • Summary: If you must have a multi-zone Blue Ray player, then this one is ok. It does not automatically play all zones, the instructions state you have to press the secret key combo on the remote when turning on the machine to change the zone it works with. It is a very compact player, but cheaply made. The Eject button is sluggish and the loading tray will occasionally get stuck closed. Don't lose the tiny little remote!

  • Summary: Disappointed that I need a separate wifi dongle...of course, sold separately, for another $40. So, this Blu Ray player wasn't as good a value, as I thought. The most frustrating part is that I didn't get to use this, when I received it...I had to order, and wait for, the dongle.

WAS great. Now, just for decoration.

  • Summary: It workED great with a Ethernet cable. The WiFi wouldn't connect without the added purchase of another product. I've had no problems with this bluray player, until yesterday. ** The remote got really warm and then quit working. The player is useless without the remote. All I can do now is turn it on and off with the button on the player.** 385 days since purchase. Yep, just passed the one year warranty. Story of my life!

the player works fine. It's the remote that doesn't work.

  • Summary: the remote only works with the "Play" button. you can't access anything with the directional buttons. so, no updating available. the netflix and Hulu buttons still work (but I don't use them). Apparently I need a new remote. $30.00 plus $8.00 shipping. I only paid $59.00 for the whole unit. Will just buy a new different brand machine. The company's website is terrible. closed most of the time. poor support for their products.

Was cheap, because it is cheap

  • Summary: Got one of these at Walmart. Wanted to use Netflix and was looking for a streamer. Saw this for only $10 more than the low end Raku and figured it would be worth the bonus of Blue Ray. Product hints that it is wireless. It isn't without a dongle that costs 1/3 as much as the player itself. Fortunately, my router was only a few feet from the TV so I could connect with ethernet. Now, however, since I moved my TV to the next room, I don't easily have that option.

This does not play Zone B Blu-rays.

Estela Vargas, Amazon
4 September 2013
  • Summary: Hello. I'm from Mexico and two weeks ago, I bought in a local RadioShack store here in Mexico City this DVD/Blu-ray player. It does play Region 1 and Region 2 (PAL) dvd's but does not play Zone B Blu-rays as it says it does. This weird because it is exactly the same model (Philips BDP 2900/F7) and I bought it because I read the whole reviews about it. I don't know if this has to do with the fact I bought here in Mexico. Please if someone could help out I'd be grateful.

  • Summary: Hello. I'm from Mexico and 15 days ago I bought in a local RadioShack store here in Mexico City this DVD/Blu-ray player. It does play region 1 and 2 (PAL) dvd's, but does not play Zone B Blu-rays. This is rather weird because the player I bought, it's exactly the same model (Philips BDP2900) as it is shown here. That's why I bought it, because I read all the reviews here. I have no idea if this has to do with the fact that I bought here in Mexico.

Don't loose your remote!..And it locks up!

Rebecca Martinez, Amazon
31 July 2013
  • Summary: My husband got this for me, so I wish I could say I liked it, but it is not too great. First of all, I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old meaning that my remote could end up anywhere in my house. I spend a lot of time searching for the tiny remote that comes with this thing almost every day! It wouldn't be that bad if the player actually had a play button on it, but unfortunately, Philips decided to only put an on/off button and an open/close button on the actual player.
