Summary: this dvd player is ok,not top of the range but you expect it to be decent being Phillips.i've had one problem with it,the remote wont open the disc player and I have to do it at the machine.it's been like this from day one.i've had it for a good couple of years now and it still works ok.not the best but it was only cheap and if you just want it to play discs then it's fine.
Summary: Spend a lot of time researching, I mainly use this for playing USB XVID films on a TV. I have had many problems in the past with cheap players that barely work properly, or stall mid-film, or with poor features. This one is great...
Summary: Got my Blu-ray player today and it was great..works wonderfully and no faults so far.It would be helpfull and recommneded that you take out the warranty as a just in case but it works perfectly. i followed the intructions for the multi region change as it was needed due to the amount of dvds we have that are region 1.only downfall is the no optical port, flash drive on the front and no button to open then tray on the remote. Multiregion DVD playback.
Summary: outstanding quality, well worth every penny, speedy load up,only downsides I found was the remote looks cheap, will not recognize full HD DVD'S although will play standard DVD'S,DIVX ect,the Dolby 5.1 surround sound-only two phono outputs,1 left,1 right and not the expected 6 out puts, but despite this,,very happy with the player and would definitley recommend ad am considering buying a second
Summary: Great bluray player which has worked as well as I have expected. Looks sleek and is very thin so doesn't take up much place on my tv rack. I have watched countless movies and program's using not only blurays but DVDs as well and the picture is such an improvement over a standard DVD player. Setup is incredibly simple and doesn't require reprogramming of any sort when it has been unplugged at the mains. I would highly recommend this unit!
Summary: From the start of using this player it kept making noises when watching films making it very hard to concentrate on the film when all you hear is the player making clunking and ticking noises. People have had the same problem with other philips models as well. Ive got a sony now and that is silent when watching blu rays. I recommend getting a different brand than philips for a blu ray player.
Summary: This is my first Blu Ray player as I have held off until they became cheaper. Blu Ray players are DVD players for HD TV's. If you don't have an HD TV then stick with DVD. The discs cost more than regular DVD's but have a higher quality picture. Blu Ray players also play normal DVDs and upscale them to make them look better on HD televisions. A common complaint about Blu Ray players is that they are slow to load up and very noisy.
