Summary: $48 Sony BDP-S2100 Wal-Mart Black Friday deal. 2 AA batteries required for remote and HDMI cable. Neither are included. The instructions are not included. Had to go to Sony support (as it says on the reference booklet) and download a 44 page PDF file. You can purchase a manual from Sony. An "Easy Setup" screen was supposed to pop up on power up or you can hit the "Home" button to set up the internet connection.
Summary: I bought two of these items refurbished at www.woot.com. This little player is packed with features, works well with my Samsung TV's HDMI universal control so I don't touch its own remote, and its Youtube has been more reliable too. I haven't used the 3D, but Blu-Ray's look, sound, and play spectacularly. It's performance in apps isn't great(-1 Star), at least compared to my recent model TV, but they are reliable.
Summary: Purchased this model at Wall-Mart for $68. I can not understand the bad reviews, it does everything it says it does and does them quite well. I had NO hang-ups on Netflix which was always annoying on our Wi (bandwidth is not an issue here). It read my MP3 player without issue. It played video from a thumb-drive. Had no problem setting it up, all the functions seem to work very well.
Summary: This is the worst way to spend $70. This thing has malware installed into the setup menu (as said by a philips customer service rep when I called) so the only connection type is an ethernet. Which was another $40 for an ethernet bridge. Then you have to manually connect to the internet every single time you turn it back on. AND if you are lucky, it WON'T freeze on you this time, and you won't have to unplug it from the outlet in order to shut it off.
Summary: This Player was purchased because it was the cheapest Blu Ray player out their with WiFi. I have had nothing but problems with it since I bought it. Netflix is where I have most of my problems...the menu is horribly slow, while streaming if it freezes there is no way to refresh or even re-start the player without completely unplugging it. There have been times where I have had to unplug and plug back it back in constantly.
Summary: The item was packed securely, it was in very good condition. I used this several times and the picture quality is great. I did not use the 3D playback yet. I would recommend this to anyone. I am very pleased.
Summary: I was actually gifted this, so I shouldn't be complaining, but I feel I should warn any prospective buyers. Like others have said, this does NOT come with an HDMI cable(they're cheap, no biggie) NOR does it come with a required USB Dongle for Wi-Fi(which is nearly as expensive as the player unless you search around). So after purchasing the dongle, Netflix doesn't work. Well, at least the sound. The player does not support 5.1, just stereo sound.
Summary: She won't even send me one that works, said she doesn't have another ( some outlet huh? ) the owner won't even send me a return label so i can return this player that shuts off because it has a short in the cord. if i had read her previous feedback i never would have done business with this person. it's a person not a company.
Summary: 1. No HDMI cable with device. Not a problem, you can get AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable for less than $7 and that is a good cable too. 2. Wireless DOES work! You just have to be patient with it. 3. A little slow on loading DVDs and Blue-ray disks. But plays them with out a hitch. Do make sure that you have ventilation for it though. 4. It is on the cheaper end so you get what you pay for; but it works and works fine also region free....
Summary: After my kids previous Blu-ray player gave up the ghost, I wanted to replace it with a device that also included wifi, as they like watching Netflix shows and their previous player did not have wifi access, and we don't have internet cable run into their room. I headed to Best Buy and purchased this model instead of a similarly priced Samsung model that was reported to freeze up a lot. I've now had this device for a couple of days, and will be returning it to Best Buy.
