BWT 800 - Worthy upgrade from BWT 780 and 700 - Solid build and performance
2 July 2013
Summary: Excellent picture quality (freeview HD) looks like the original source and freeview SD looks good upscalled. Also very good at upscalling DVDs and Bluray is amazing sharp images. Load time and menu are quicker then the BWT 780 / 880 and HD space is sufficient (500GB) as the pure digital mode is very efficient. Very quiet in operation and has the function to turn the fan off when not required (when watching DVD / Blu ray).
Summary: This does everything I need of it and much more as it includes a Wireless connection so you can use it to play videos from the web via your router. Plus it can transform 2D to 3D and play Blu Ray. Even with the rate of progress I think this Recorder has a lot of features that will hopefully make it useable for a long time.
Summary: I'm interested in buying this product as a backup to my Sky HD+ box, bowever simple question can I archive HD footage recorded from an external source such as the Sky HD+ box onto Blu-ray media for archive? Many thanks in advance.
Summary: GREAT MACHINE, I WANTED THIS TO ARCHIVE FAMILY FILMS TO BLU RAY DISC & IT DOES THIS FINE THERE ARE A FEW THINGS ID IMPROVE, BUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ~I HAVE SEVERAL RECORDINGS PUT WITHIN A GROUP IE HOLIDAY OVER SEVERAL DAYS, HOW I GET A SELECTION TO PLAY CONTINUOUSLY NOT FROM THE START BUT FROM HALF WAY THROUGH THE LIST TO THE END?
Summary: Have bought this recorder after having an older Panasonic non freeview DVD/HDD recorder. It is interesting to compare the two. The new machine is much faster responding than the old model - button presses are acted upon very quickly. The interface generally has been cleaned up and is far more logical. The quality, both video and audio is much better with video upscaling of DVDs in particular very impressive. It can really give an old disc a makeover.
Summary: As I am using this machine to record from freesat only and not freeview, this review is based upon that alone and Blu Ray commercial discs (film etc..) only. Special note : It is not possible to record whilst watching another program using only one freesat Input (via scart terminal). If you have two freesat Inputs (LNB's - cables directly from your dish)= then choose the Panasonic BWT880 model for that purpose alone .
Summary: I live in a block with a shared aerial so am always worried about how stuff like this will work. Well I am really pleased and a bit amazed. The picture quality on HD is fab as is normal picture. Setting up just requires a degree of patience - follow the instructions and you will be OK. We have really slow Internet access - yet that still works. Very very happy customer.
Summary: I rate this recorder/ player v highly. The video magic this device performs is excellent. The picture is significantly improved when I switch to watching the freeview from this device. The combination of high quality receiver and up scaling definitely works! The blu-ray player is excellent for picture and sound reproduction. The 3d is reproduced fantastically.
