Summary: I finally sold my Sky HD box and opted for this. I was annoyed that in order to tape onto my Sky box I had to have a subscription hence the reason for my purchase of the DMR-BW880. I have no regrets as I got this at a very discounted price from Amazon (I was lucky to spot a brief price drop).
Summary: I bought this less than two weeks ago and until today loved everything about it. Simplicity itself to set up and use. First time I evere paused live TV. Even the ads on the EPG were nothing. I had upgraded from a Panasonic DVD recorder so many functions and layout were familiar. The only reason I was not giving full marks was because it only plays region 2 discs and my DVD recorder was multiregion.
Summary: It does everything as advertised, very nicely - the HDtv pictures on the Viera are crisp and clean - although, like other users, I find the guide displays far too little information and the advert is an annoying waste of space. Even more annoying is the fact that not only is it not a multi-region DVD player but, according to a local electronics specialist who stopped selling blu-ray and DVD because of the region issue, any multi-region hack on this will be reset by the...
Summary: I bought this to use with two G20 displays that I have. It was quick and easy to set up on the main TV and with a little fiddling around (enabling the media server options) I got it working over the network on the second TV. I bought this because I had problems with my previous PVR - My PS3 running "PlayTV". I have to admit that the user interface is not as good as Sony's - quite basic and some things, such as deleting old recordings, require jumping through hoops.
Summary: We bought this Blue Ray HD recorder as it had built in HD, we set it up on Friday & couldn't get any of the HD channels to work. We phoned Panasonic, and they asked where we lived, and told us we wouldn't get HD tv until 2012. So we arranged for a guy to come and install a Satellite dish so we then had to buy another version of this player, as this one wasn't compatible with freesat. So just make sure if you go for this, that you do have HDtv already.
Summary: First, other reviews: OK, so the programme guide does have an advert on the left third, but it did not annoy me as my Panasonic TV uses the same guide with the same adverts so I was used to it! A few weeks ago a programme guide supplier went bust leaving some Freeview boxes with no guide at all, so if the advert stops that from happening in the future, I will tolerate it!
Summary: Picture is great on my Panasonic TV. With the Viera Link functions this unit , the TV and the Panasonic Cinema Surround system volume all can be controlled from this units remote. The TV picture / TV timer program can record direct to the HDD of the BW880 via the scart lead with no problems. You have got to make sure hdmi leads are fully wired for the Viera Link control function - some cheaper ones aren't. Everything automatically set up ok.
Summary: First the positives. Brilliant bit of kit. High quality recording, very easy to set recordings, superb picture quality. It does the job really well. However, compared to another PVR - I previously owned a HUMAX 9200T - some features are really annoying. i) On the programme guide, the area at the left hand side is used for annoying adverts. I don't expect to have features like this on equipment that costs this much.
