Summary: Before buying this I read some of the reviews on these Panasonic Freesat tuners and was a little concerned before placing my order. For a while I had been considering binning Sky - I didn't have Sky HD and didn't see why I should pay ever month to watch the odd HD program. I already had twin satellite feed into my front room and was using a Goodman HD box on one 'freesat' channel and a standard Grundig box on a second 'Sky' channel - I also had a Pioneer HDD/DVD...
Summary: This was my first venture into HD, and my first into satellite technology too. Though I consider myself reasonably tech savvy, and had read a lot of reviews and forum material, I still felt rather unsure of taking the final step and actually buying something as expensive as the Panasonic. After 5 months of use, I am still overwhelmed by the quality of both the Panasonic box and of Freesat HD in general. Watching a David Attenborough documentary in HD is mind blowing.
Summary: firstly, i was amazed when it arrived less than 24 hours after ordering, even when using standard delivery, why would you want to pay for express. i am no electronic techno geek so i am only slowly finding out what and how much this machine does. it looks great under my also new Panasonic 37" all singing and dancing fully loaded tv and they work together seemlessly.
Summary: I bought this machine from Germany. It does everything it says on the box and even with the manual only in English, I soon got everything working. My but comes from the problem that led me to sending it back. In Germany there are so many satellites you usually will receive more than one signal, so I had the British vom Astra 2 at 28,5 and the German vom Astra 1 at 19,2.
Summary: This is a powerful piece of kit. It is easy to setup, gives very good quality pictures and can record two channels whilst watching a Blu-Ray/DVD. The timing options on the programme guide are comprehensive, intuitive and easy to use. The more complex options are described in a straight forward easy to grasp manner in the manual, which now lives in the same room! The hard drive is capacious though it is easy to transfer films onto a Blu-Ray disc.
Summary: Excellent but missed many 'guide link' recordings. Replaced by Amazon without question. New item same fault. Being investigated by Panasonic. Subsequently Panasonic issued a logic update on DVD and the item is now perfect in my opinion.
Summary: Are we pleased with it? Yes! Are we glad we bought? Yes! The picture quality is amazing and we wonder what some critical reviewers are watching. The comment about lag between screens is not apparent for us. I wonder if their signal is poor. We find the menu system intuitive and very easy to set up recording, didn't need the manual to work it out at all. A really nice touch is that if their is an HD alternative it lists it as well (well it does for BBC programs at least).
Summary: Had this now for five weeks and in a word its great, the picture quality is outstanding not only on blu-ray disc but also normal dvd as it upscales. the recordings i have done onto blue ray is very good , just one word of warning if you copy in the highest quality mode on to blu-ray mode it will only let you copy once and the disc will only play on the panosonic. if you drop down one mode although still blu-ray it will play on most machines.
