Summary: I really like this player but don't think it's worth it for premium prices charged by vendors Come on Panasonic - where is the upgraded model with same or better DAC Chips? Where house deals also jacked up the price Looks like Amazon could use some competition as practices being used now like other big name stores
Summary: this unit does all that it claims. set-up was nice with my vt60 and surround system. i have Verizon fios and the wireless set-up was a breeze. i read many reviews on this BDT500 and the main complaint is the remote. the touch pad in question works very much like my Lenovo laptop, which took a few days to get used to. come on people, it really does work, and sometimes a little change is good for us.
Summary: I bought this player as a skeptic. The price was just too good as well as great reviews. I started with firmware update. All went well without a glitch. Remote works fine so I have no idea why so many people are complaining about it. It works like touch screen that most people own these days. Analog and hdmi audio quality sounded same to my ears. Blu ray loads up in seconds. Get this while the price still hovers around 150.
Summary: Received the unit over the weekend and I must say I'm highly impressed with the unit. I've got it hooked up to a Toshiba TV and an Onkyo headunit and I have to say it's a match made in audio and video heaven for my budget. We've ran the player through about 10 movies so far with no issue's.
A great value for a blu-ray player with all of the bells and whistles...

Summary: I am giving this blu-ray player a high rating because I haven't had any issues with it and I think for the price it is a bargain. I was looking for a blu-ray player with analog outputs because I use an older Pioneer Elite VSX-53 receiver which does not support DTS HD MA decoding. Therefore a blu-ray player such as this is necessary as it will do the decoding and then output the decoded analog audio into the receiver analog inputs.
Summary: Got all hyped up reading the spec sheet on this product but ready for disappointments as sometimes happen. Wow! This far exceeded my expectations. I was leery as to the 2D to 3D conversion but when I put a regular 2D DVD in and opted for 3D conversion, I was amazed. To me, it looked no different than my Blu-Ray 3D DVD's. OK, so now I do not have to spend the extra for 3D. Older disks worked well also. I like the way the unit greets you upon on/off.
Summary: This is Panasonic's top of the line player. Picture is beautiful. Audiophile audio sounds detailed and powerful. The remote is a small disappointment. It has a touchpad like a laptop computer. The touchpad is annoying to use. Panasonic added this feature so you can use gestures to control it, like an iPad. I think a regular remote would have been easier to use. Since I use a universal remote, this did not create a big problem for me.
Summary: Upgraded from the DMP-BDT220. A big difference in quality all around. The player is extremely fast to load disks, no waiting around staring at the load animations anymore. The finish on the unit is incredible and the photos give it no justice. But the most important thing is the audio quality, which is superb. I'm running this directly to the reciever through analog instead of through my DAC. It has perfect audiophile sound processing.
Summary: The player itself is top of the line in sound, video, features and ease of use. The touch pad is a little different but if you can use a laptop it's the same thing. Love the streaming Pandora app. Fast shipping and great price from Amazon. 5 Starts all around.
Summary: well built, can't go wrong with this unit.never had any issues with it's wifi.use it daily for streaming netflix, never missed a beat.great picture and sound.thought about buying oppo, but glad i saved my money, this player just as good for a fraction of the cost.it don't have dvd audio or sacd play back.but who cares, there dead formats.and it looks alot better then the supposed high end players.
