Bdt 500P blu ray player

Bruce, Amazon
7 May 2014
  • Summary: Unit is real buggy. When I turn it on it will say sleep timer has been activated or sound clarity has been turned on. It is awful for apps, slow as dirt, I mean real, real slow. Buttons are slow to respond and so is content loading. I would say a full Minute to get into Netflix after you select it. It drops my Netflix password occasionally. It does have a very good picture but I would prefer a normal remote.

Great but pricy at over 200

  • Summary: I really like this player but don't think it's worth it for premium prices charged by vendors Come on Panasonic - where is the upgraded model with same or better DAC Chips? Where house deals also jacked up the price Looks like Amazon could use some competition as practices being used now like other big name stores

very nice performer

  • Summary: this unit does all that it claims. set-up was nice with my vt60 and surround system. i have Verizon fios and the wireless set-up was a breeze. i read many reviews on this BDT500 and the main complaint is the remote. the touch pad in question works very much like my Lenovo laptop, which took a few days to get used to. come on people, it really does work, and sometimes a little change is good for us.

Everything is fine including remote

Charlie Cunningham, Amazon
16 January 2014
  • Summary: I bought this player as a skeptic. The price was just too good as well as great reviews. I started with firmware update. All went well without a glitch. Remote works fine so I have no idea why so many people are complaining about it. It works like touch screen that most people own these days. Analog and hdmi audio quality sounded same to my ears. Blu ray loads up in seconds. Get this while the price still hovers around 150.

Does not handle scratched discs well.

Jim, Amazon
10 January 2014
  • Summary: The good: Streaming Netflix works well for me. I like the menu interface. The picture and sound is great for brand new/flawless blu-ray discs. I use both outs for awesome sound and a stunning picture. Noise from the player isn't noticeable. The bad: I ordered this player to play Netflix blu-ray discs. The player has trouble with even slightly scratched discs. Blu-ray players are supposed to be more robust with scratched discs, but not this player.

Highly impressed; would buy again.

Jim Malick, Amazon

  • Summary: Received the unit over the weekend and I must say I'm highly impressed with the unit. I've got it hooked up to a Toshiba TV and an Onkyo headunit and I have to say it's a match made in audio and video heaven for my budget. We've ran the player through about 10 movies so far with no issue's.

Decent albeit buggy performer

P. Guillotte, Amazon

  • Summary: I'm a fan of Panasonic video equipment so we bought this player to complement our Panny plasma display. As an audiophile I searched a long, long time for a decent quality BR player with a good analog audio section to hook up to a SET tube amp. The choices are few, either buy a chintzy Sony, LG, Samsung or cough up obscene money for a Denon, Marantz, Cambridge Audio or Oppo.

A great value for a blu-ray player with all of the bells and whistles...

Simon, Amazon
19 November 2013
  • Summary: I am giving this blu-ray player a high rating because I haven't had any issues with it and I think for the price it is a bargain. I was looking for a blu-ray player with analog outputs because I use an older Pioneer Elite VSX-53 receiver which does not support DTS HD MA decoding. Therefore a blu-ray player such as this is necessary as it will do the decoding and then output the decoded analog audio into the receiver analog inputs.

DID I GET A LEMON??

shadowcat, Amazon
3 November 2013
  • Summary: Since receiving this I have had problems playing dvds whether regular bluray or 3d. The movie will freeze up & break up & pixelate and sometimes the dvd will not play at all & I will get an error message stating "dvd is not compatible". (it is) I have taken the same dvds & played on my other set up which is also a Panasonic player, just an earlier model so it's not the dvds. Panasonic had me reset the player back to the manuf settings but the issue persisted.

  • Summary: i have owned this player a couple of weeks now ,and i'm not real happy with it the problems include but are not limited to: the player will crash and shut down while streaming from hulu netflix ect if you shut down the instant on feature this will fix the crash/shutdown problem. software loading times are extremely slow/the implementation is awful.the player has been out to long now not to have better support for video formats such as flv xvid ect,it has the capability...
