Summary: After years of searching and finally buying the pieces of my home entertainment system, I was missing the DVD player. I thought that this would be a difficult choice, but found that the reviews for this device were excellent from a few trusted sources, including the AVS forum. Only a few on Amazon exclaimed that an OTA update had "messed up the Wifi and Netflix." Apparently Panasonic listened and corrected it, mentioning it in their updates. - 1.53.
Pros: Absolutely stunning 24p play back. Networked Apps are flawless (wired). Very customizable. Unbelievable DLNA capability. Ability to skip the unskippables in a DVD. Overall professional onscreen GUI. Audio Quality is surprisingly very good. Upscaling as a customizable, menu driven item. Very Apple-esque.
Cons: Wish it linked to Non-Windows NAS better. Needs longer passwords for Networked Drives.
Summary: Dont be carried away by your friends saying their TV is smart. The wifi enable BR players will make your regular TV a SMART TV at a very low cost or nothing. You need a BR player any way - so buy one with a Wifi enabled and you get 2 in 1. A BR player and your TV is SMART! No need for ROKO apple TV etc. Got this from Frys for $79.95 after christmas sale. Earlier this week (12/30/12), or still offerred at the same price.
Pros: Excellent value for the price - Paid $79.95 at Frys.
Cons: No comments - still learning how to use it for web apps
Excerpt: I LOVE my DVD player! This DVD player has many, many options that you will not find on other DVD players. Watch the news, watch a weather video. Set the weather for your town and always know what to expect. Play free games. Check your facebook and twitter emails. Stream Youtube videos, Netflix or Amazon tv. Stream Pandora. Listen to music or news through your favorite radio channel. Skype with family and friends while you watch your Netflix movie.
Summary: It is fantastic, it is easy to use. It is extremely quiet you do not even realise it is on not like the previous recorder I had which was loud and kept crashing. The Panasonic DMP-BDT220 was a very excellent buy and it has not let me down.
