When it works it works

Rob B "ElegantEmpireDotCom", Amazon
20 August 2012
  • Summary: BUYER BEWARE!!! If you are buying this blue ray to use for accessing Netflix or anything else wirelessly, buy a different product. There are two major problems. 1. The wireless connection to your router will drop regularly and will not reconnect.

Terrible Customer Service - spotty performance

Sibby, Amazon
15 August 2012
  • Summary: When it works, it's great BUT 1. From time to time it just stops in the middle of a Netflix streaming. I still get the same streaming on my computer at the same time, but Panasonic insists that the problem is my router. The only way to recover is to shut off and UNPLUG the Panasonic unit. 2.

Buy something else!

Steven M., Newegg
29 July 2012
  • Summary: I have a 3 year old Samsung that none of these problems exist on. I wish I would have found out Netflix didn't work sooner so I could have returned it.
  • Pros: Loading time is fairly quick. Wireless works very well. Remote has a nice lay out.
  • Cons: Netflix doesn't work with latest firmware, 1.39. Wired connection doesn't seem to work even though it detects the connection. Some movies are incompatible.

Netflix & Vudu don't work

Stickstone, Amazon
24 July 2012
  • Summary: On May 5th we bought this Blu-ray player because of the terrific reviews here and on Cnet, and our desire for a "richer" Netflix browsing experience as compared to other Blu-ray players. Most of what is said is true - it's actually pretty nice.

Nice, but not for streaming vids

VeritasSemper, Amazon
24 July 2012
  • Summary: The predecessor to the Panasonic 220 (Panasonic 210) would cause the screen to go dark for a moment while re-buffering and it would then continue displaying. I originally thought the new version ie the 220, would be the solution to wirelessly streaming Netflix vids as it initially worked well for...

Bad Luck With Panasonic Again

Terry Bredeau, Amazon
24 July 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this Panasonic BDT220 because of all the great reviews it got here. Unfortunately, this was the lemon of all lemons. I recently set up my wireless network with a bridge so I could get a "wired" connection for my old Insignia wifi bluray so it would play Netflix faster.

Honestly, I'm disappointed.

B. Smith, Amazon
24 July 2012
  • Summary: I'm not happy with this unit. It is simply not user friendly. It was purchased primarily for streaming HD content to my 42in LCD. There are huge delays related to using Netflix. From the Panasonic home screen you have to press the Netflix button.

WiFi Streaming Nightmare

R. Gonzalez, Amazon
24 July 2012
  • Summary: I just bought the Panasonic DMP-BDT220 (from Costco admittedly; better price) and was looking for a player with built-in WiFi to stream movies, Netflix, Hulu, etc. On initial setup it asked me to update the firmware to the latest version- easy enough.

Very primitive

Niranjan George Marx, Amazon
24 July 2012
  • Summary: I bought this for this thanksgiving and found it to be very primitive compared to Sony's. There is no option to rewind, forward a video while watching YouTube. There is no option to login to YouTube as well. It also doesn't list the recent searches. These are available in Sony.
