Summary: This is the first Blu-ray player that I haven't had any complaints with. The playback is stellar and the menu system is very sensible. The wireless adapter has been reliable--definitely good enough for streaming. My favorite feature on this player is the Amazon Prime Video player. That's the main reason I picked this one. We use this for streaming Prime video all the time. While the Prime Video player application is kind of weak, the playback really is fantastic.
Summary: I have had this player for approximately four months, now...and feel I can write an honest review about it. It works well as a player, and I've never had an issue with skipping disks or other annoyances that my previous player was causing me. The online content such as Netflix and Amazon is a little clunky and difficult to navigate, but not to the point of frustration. I would purchase this item again.
Summary: The player works very well, has some good functions for the price, just wish I'd read a bit closer on all the file types it would play/recognize. I had looked at over 20 DVD and Blu Ray players that day and so wasn't paying enough attention, wanted one that would play AVI and MKV file movies, it does AVIs but not MKVs. Was too mixed up from searching for too long and didn't notice, since it's a Blu Ray player, that it didn't do both. My bad. :/ Otherwise works well.
Summary: The unit works well and looks nice, I am haveing a Problem with the wireless and at this point am not sure if its teh unit or my router. Id Recommend this unit if you need the analog audio outs, if not id go with the 210.
Summary: I purchased the used version as it was significantly cheaper than the new unit. The box appeared to have been put through the dryer, but the internal packaging and unit itself were in suberp condition. Absolutely no regrets! This is the 3rd blu-ray player I've purchased and finally I have one worth keeping. This is the only unit that I could get to work with my Sony receiver.
Panasonic DMP-BD85K WiFi Enabled Blu-Ray Disc Player (Black)
1 May 2011
Summary: This is a nice, entry-level Blu-Ray player. I traded up for my DVD player - not for the attraction of playing Blu-ray discs, but for the networking streaming capabilities. As of the last firmware update, the Panasonic DMP-BD85K does not have the Hulu app. This is a major disappointment. Though I understand that this has less to do with Panasonic, than with Hulu.
Summary: I am impressed with the overall quality of the machine as well as the ease of set-up. My only complaint is that two-for-two the player came without its WiFi adapter, which feature was one of the reasons why I chose this machine. (Why "two-for-two"? Because the solution I was offered by Amazon customer service when I contacted them to inform them of the missing piece was to order it a second time. Oooookay, if that's what you have to do! I thought. So I went for it.
Summary: In order to save money I disconnected my cable and I use the Panasonic WiFi to watch movies and TV series. I don't miss cable at all. I tell all my friends and family this is the way to go, I save $74 a month by using my player. Netflix is awesome, lots of free movies and TV. It would be perfect if they can get Hulu also!!
Summary: So far - for the money - I think the Panasonic DMP-BD85 Blu Ray player has hands down the best picture and maybe the cleanest sound of anything I've tried so far including a top rated Samsung Blu Ray C6500 - which is an excellent Blu Ray player as well. The Panasonic also received Consumer Reports highest blu ray and up converting rating. But the Samsung C6500 was close on its heels.
