Summary: Will not play Starship Troopers (+ BD Live) [Blu-ray ]. Very, very slow loading. Makes too much noise loading Blu-ray discs. Will not play many self-made DVD discs. I get a error message that it cannot play a DVD that I burned on a DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R and a DVD+R. So I have to move the disc to an much older standard DVD player, and the disc will play fine. WiFi is very hard to set up to a COX cable wireless network.
Summary: I've owned this Blu Ray player for about a year and a half now and its disc player just died on me. It simply refuses to play any disc and says "No Disc" or some other variation as if the disc can't be scanned at all. As usual, all warranties are out the window within 90 days to a year, so I'm out of luck on that.
Summary: I was SO lookin forward to this product and then when I received it, it was missing the adapter in order to connect to my Wifi so now I basically have a plain ol' blu-ray player. So far, Amazon hasn't done anything to fix this issue so that will probably be the last time I buy off this website.
Summary: Easy enough set up. Slow disc load. Lousy interface but functional. Good picture quality. Occasional firmware updates improved load time and disc playback. Very few problems. Until: Stopped reading blu ray discs 5 days after parts warranty ended. Love that timing! No help from manufacturer or retailer. Not surprising, but it's hard not to feel a little burned by the situation. This was not a bottom of the line player - it cost $220 at the time of purchase.
Summary: Most recent problem, when playing a NETFLIX movie I get nothing but a green band across the middle of the screen! Problems with the remote: Very awkward in the hand, bad ergonomics, bad layout of buttons. For example, the navigation buttons are located at the bottom of the remote, making it very awkward to use. The pause and stop button are right on top of one another. Very often I accidentally push the stop button by mistake, instead of the pause button.
Summary: For the love of _insert name of favorite deity here_, do NOT buy this player! Right out of the box, ours had major problems playing brand-new, freshly unwrapped blu ray discs: it would play fine for a while, and then hang. The only way to recover was to turn off the power strip into which the player was plugged, then turn it back on. After a while, it quit playing blu-ray discs altogether, though it would still play DVDs without a problem.
Summary: As another owner wrote, the blu-ray player pretty much did what was advertised, but for only a while. One day it just stopped playing any and all blu-ray discs, but still plays regular DVDs. It seems to be a fairly common issue with this device. Another owner wrote, "I tried everything (plugging and unplugging, resetting to factory defaults, re-updating firmware, etc) but all blu-rays just wouldn't play, even blu-rays that had played perfectly just days before.
Summary: Enjoyed this player very much - until it completely stopped working out of nowhere. I didn't even use it that much. Started getting error messages and then it wouldn't turn on - or even allow me to eject the disk that was in it. Simply doesn't work anymore. Will be buying one from another company.
Summary: The wireless is really slow to load, and the remote is actually kind of awkward when trying to get back to disc / netflix menus. The Netflix menu is dated, and you have to "load" movies into que via a computer to see your choices. I should have gotten another PS3. The interface and connection speeds are so much better.
Summary: This blu-ray player pretty much did what was advertised, but for only eight months. Then it just stopped playing any and all blu-ray discs, but still played regular DVDs. I tried everything (plugging and unplugging, resetting to factory defaults, etc) but all blu-rays just wouldn't play, even blu-rays that had played perfectly just days before.
