Summary: This deck was highly recommended when reviewed by Consumer Reports. I have no real complaints, except that I missed the streaming of services such as Netflix. That option was included in the next version, so that is lacking. It does not play 3D Bluray.
Summary: I bought this unit after hearing about it at a high end stereo store. This is the perfect dvd player if you have a stereo receiver that does not have an HDMI input. It accepts analog inputs. It seems hard to really get into the fine tuning for the analog but if you can do it it's great.
Summary: After a bad first experience with a BD player from Shamsung I spent the extra few bucks for this Panasonic and i'm glad I did. Player perfroms flawlessly, not one lock-up or HDCP hand-shake problem after months of use.
Summary: We haven't used this player a lot, because we don't have many blu-ray discs. The ones we DO have are animated or Pixar Disney movies & the picture is definitely sharper and in some cases has an almost 3D look to it. No problems setting it up & the sound's fine.
Summary: BUY ONE WITH WI-FI BUILT IN!!!! I recently bought this "Consumer Report", A+ rated Panasonic. Research made me want a machine that could be updated and linked to on-line rental services. It took MANY HOURS to find out how to get it hooked up to a wireless network.
Summary: This is a great Blue-ray player, the sound and video are great and it does play all of our old DVD's as well. The only issue I don't care for is when Blue-ray discs are playing you can't stop the player you must pause it instead, otherwise it will restart the whole video.
Good current generation unit with YouTube, etc features
3 October 2009
Summary: This unit does what its designed for quite well. The video/audio is excellent as commented by other reviewers. Even the loading time in my opinion is good (for a current-gen HD player). It powers on easily in around 30 seconds or less.
Summary: Nice looking unit. Using HDMI cable (purchased separately) the player interfaces well with a Sony Bravia TV. For the most part, function of the player is as advertised. My only objections are the slow load, balky tray open from remote, and refusal to play certain music CD's.
Summary: All I have to say is that on the surface, Blu Ray picture and sound is definitely all it's cracked up to be and then some. I still have my first generation Sony XBR 1080i I bought in 2006 with 2 HDMI outputs and I must say with this player via HDMI (Monster Ultra High Speed 1000)I can really really...
Summary: With the BD80, Panasonic has taken its popular BD55 , with its excellent picture and sound quality, and added the ability to access online content via the new VIERA Cast feature. Currently VIERA Cast is limited to YouTube, Picasa online photo sharing, stocks and weather via "widgets" but Amazon's...
