NETFLIX SLOWED BY INTERNET PROVIDER

BARRETT A., Newegg
21 February 2014
  • Pros: The players is flawless. Works on all disks. I read an article that the network providers, Comcast, Verizon and others, are slowing Netflix data on purpose. If your Netflix is taking forever to load, it's NOT this players fault. Complain to your network provider for being a jerk and not giving you the speed you pay them for on all traffic equally. It's actually a breech of contract for many of the providers.

Sweet

Anonymous, Newegg

  • Summary: I also have the Samsung 5500 blu-ray player for 3D I got in a combo with my TV and I still enjoy using this player for regular 2D blu-ray and dvd playback. The quality for price is amazing. On some movies, along with testing the picture settings on both players and in conjunction with my TV, some movies look better on this player to me for some reason.
  • Pros: This was my first stand alone blu-ray player and it has all the features I wanted. It loads discs quick, has a nice interface on the player. The quality looks amazing coupled with my Samsung LED 7000 46'' 3D TV. I love the stylish look and the playback is flawless. DVD's look brand new too. Couldn't be happier ! :)
  • Cons: IF I had to pick a con, its very minor but on my Samsung LED, it thinks that this player is a 3D player for some reason and when I have 3D detection set to auto, it changes it and the image is distorted. Not a huge problem, I just set the 3D detection to Message Notify, and then I just leave it when it comes up and says 3D hardware detected Press 3D to activate. Again no big deal, I assume the firmware or player was manufactured along with Panasonic's other players th...

Great Picture, Very Quiet and Intuitive to Use

Christopher Hession "Chris H", Amazon
12 September 2012
  • Summary: A good looking ultra-slim player. Very intuitive to operate - I haven't opened the manual yet. One result of the slimness is a much smaller outer package. For all my discs it had very fast loading times. So fast that those annoying pages of text that no one wants to read just whizzed by! The blu-ray picture quality is superb. The DVD picture quality is superb. Viewing some ancient DVD-Rs (of varying original quality...

Great Value Player

N. Walker, Amazon
16 August 2012
  • Summary: A great value, no frills Blu-Ray Player. It does an excellent job of upscaling DVD's and as I have hundreds of DVD's, that was my main requirement of the player. It is worth noting that there is no digital audio connection, which may put some people off purchasing this player. I have mine connected via the phono sockets to my Denon hifi system, and the sound is good enough for me.

Superb performance and value for money

keribillen, Amazon

  • Summary: No-frills, compact, inexpensive well-made Blu Ray player. Excellent sound quality and picture quality. Easy to use, though the setup UI has some odd quirks (nothing serious). Operation is fast enough. A fantastic product for those wanting the ability to play Blu Ray disks well, and not much more.

Great quality low cost player

Stephen Hawley, Amazon
7 May 2012
  • Summary: If you want a basic, no frills 2D Blu-Ray player then this is just the ticket. OK so it does not have all the bells and whistles of top end players but put in your disk and it plays. No noticeable noise as mentioned in some other reviews, fast load time, great picture quality, easy to use, simple to set-up.
