Bought in 9/2009 still working like a champ 4/2014

GaryBV, Amazon
22 April 2014
  • Summary: This Blu-ray player has worked well and we are still using it. I cannot in fairness compare the features of this now obsolete player with the new ones, but what I can do is let you all know that this player has performed perfectly, with a few updates, and is still performing today as well as it did...

lasted only 2 years then died

Pamela K., Amazon
3 December 2012
  • Summary: Very disappointed. We had this player for 2 years and the blu ray laser is shot. This unit will play DVD's only and no Blu rays. I would have expected this to have lasted longer than 2 years!

As soon as the warranty ends, your new bluray player does too.

edguy4, Amazon
20 November 2011
  • Summary: I received this bluray player as a Christmas present two years ago everything with it worked great however that was only until the warranty expired and further research on the model showed how much Panasonic puts into their products. The error with my player was that it stopped reading any discs.

Died after ~14 months

jtimberman, Amazon
7 May 2011
  • Summary: Like another reviewer, my unit died after about 14 months. It was great up until then, and I would give it a 5 star rating if it still worked. Tonight I put in a disc, and it says "No Disc". I tried a couple others that I watched recently and no dice.

Lifespan is too short

Amazon Customer, Amazon
7 April 2011
  • Summary: My BD60 will no longer play blu-rays - I get a "read error" when trying to load a disc. It still works perfectly with regular DVDs. From reading on the web, failure of Panasonic blu-ray read lasers is very common after not a very long life (and not just one model either) even though the non-blu-ray...

Pass on this Model...

D. Philpot, Amazon
14 October 2010
  • Summary: Bought this on Amazon about a year ago after reading mostly decent reviews. Used it sparingly (maybe 10x) since it was in the bedroom. "No Disc" error started last month. Will not recognize any disc, blu-ray or otherwise. Firmware upgrade did not help.

Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player

chiquita134, ReviewStream
8 April 2010
  • Excerpt: At 130 bucks this seemed to be a good Blu-ray disc player but I was wrong. When I first got this I thought it would really be something great, and it was at first, but, in time, I started having problems with it. It just has these ups and …

Good Quality

Justin L., Newegg
25 March 2010
  • Summary: Make sure you get a high quality HDMI cable for this setup, it only comes with old-school cables and you won't get the clarity you are looking for from those.
  • Pros: User friendly, great picture quality when paired with correct TV.
  • Cons: Price is a little high for the capabilities. I see it has dropped $60 in price over the past 3 months, no surprise there. Content takes a while to load. A device that is made for playing blu ray dics should load them more quickly. I do lack patience though! :)

I wish I would have spent at least $20 more

Roland L., Newegg
24 March 2010
  • Summary: I would recommend skipping this model and going the next best rated!
  • Pros: Nice Looking, kind of straight forward set up, decent price. Great Picture!
  • Cons: I had mine connected directly to my Gigabit router and for some reason it wouldn't do the firmware update, I had to do it manually with a disc... LAME! Then it was causing some sort of white flicker on my TV even when a movie wasn't playing, but the player was just on it's idle screen. The Panaso...

A good solid player, for six months

Anonymous, Newegg
17 March 2010
  • Summary: It took five calls to Panasonic to even get the information I related above. Twice, the customer dis-service rep simply hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor. They did not simply put me on hold, they did in fact hang up.
  • Pros: Played all formats beautifully for six months.
  • Cons: Six months after purchasing this Blu-Ray player from NewEgg the drawer will not open. I turn the unit on and before I even touch the open/close button, the unit tries repeatedly to open and close the door then shuts down. The one time I was able to manually coax the tray out and get a disk in, th...
