Summary: My BD60 will no longer play blu-rays - I get a "read error" when trying to load a disc. It still works perfectly with regular DVDs. From reading on the web, failure of Panasonic blu-ray read lasers is very common after not a very long life (and not just one model either) even though the non-blu-ray stuff keeps working fine. Mine is out of warranty (1 year parts & labor; mine was bought May 2009).
Summary: Bought this on Amazon about a year ago after reading mostly decent reviews. Used it sparingly (maybe 10x) since it was in the bedroom. "No Disc" error started last month. Will not recognize any disc, blu-ray or otherwise. Firmware upgrade did not help. Customer Service at Panasonic is a nightmare of transfers and unhelpful peeps trying to sell you parts (new laser). I may have got a "lemon", but do you want to take that chance? Pass on this one...
Summary: We finally broke down & got a BluRay player and don't think we could have gotten a better deal for the price. Not only are the BluRay movies AMAZING, so are our old DVD's. The picture quality is so crystal clear, I don't need my glasses. It came in less than a week. Keep up the EXCELLENT Customer service Overstock. We will continue to be a faithful customer.
Summary: With Blu-Ray gaining in popularity I decided to replace my current DVD player (It died after many years of service). I wanted a Blu-Ray player that would play new Blu-Ray discs as well as my current library of DVD discs and this player fit the bill. My only complaint is that 2 rented Blu-Ray NETFLIX disc stopped working part way through but I think this was the fault of the discs and not the player. The price and delivery were good.
Summary: I just received this blu-ray player a couple of weeks ago and so far it is fast to respond to the buttons (which is important to me as some of the dvd players I have are slow to respond). It is easy to use and a very clear picture. I am very staisfied with my purchase.
Summary: Well, I did a lot of research before buying the BD60 from Panasonic and I believe it was a good move. I cannot agree with the previous reviewer today who stated that the unit loads in very short time, because mine does not. However, load time is not a feature that means a hill o' beans to me for a movie player. If pauses were happening during playback, that would be another story. The video and sound quality are excellent, which is what I expected.
Summary: Had this unit for a couple of months now after owning a Sony BDP-S350 Blu ray and I can say this is a superior player in comparison. Load times are still a bit slow but having all audio formats decoded by the Panasonic makes it all worth it. The Panasonic SD upconversion is better and the dialog lift feature is very worthwhile for dialog rich movies.
Summary: The Blu-ray player was easy to set up and it makes watching movies so much more enjoyable. This was a great deal. Low price and very good quality = value. Thanks. I'm really happy with the purchase.
Summary: Make sure you get a high quality HDMI cable for this setup, it only comes with old-school cables and you won't get the clarity you are looking for from those.
Pros: User friendly, great picture quality when paired with correct TV.
Cons: Price is a little high for the capabilities. I see it has dropped $60 in price over the past 3 months, no surprise there. Content takes a while to load. A device that is made for playing blu ray dics should load them more quickly. I do lack patience though! :)
