Price : $300 At A Glance : Viera Cast delivers ho-hum connectivity experience • Exceptional video processing • Full interactivity and audio decoding It seems like just yesterday that I reviewed the DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55 players (HT, December 2008). But Panasonic spared little time getting its replacements out into the market. This was almost a blink, and you’ll miss the window for the DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55. Read more

My Take... My very first Blu ray player was the Panny BD10. Since then I have had almost every Panasonic Blu ray player released. As other brands they seem to get smaller and smaller. I have tested the BD60 on a 1080p plasma, 720p LCD and my VW200 PJ. All dislays are shown in the pics below. So how does it do? Read more

The DMP-BD60K is an excellent Blu-ray player available at a very reasonable price. And while it doesn't have all of the features offered by some of the competition, the build quality and performance is better than most. If you're ready to take the step up to a true HD disc player, the DMP-BD60K makes an excellent choice. Read more

What I mean is that if I try to watch a movie, it will stop at 13:52 and if I watch it again, it can stop at 33:12 or 10:11. It does not seem to have a pattern and this is strange. I thought this was a bargain price (it would actually have been, if it was working properly) but, I think that I will give it a couple more tries and if it does not work or I can’t figure out what is actually wrong within the next couple of days, I will get a new one because this one is not... The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is a capable and likeable Blu-ray player. We love the simple styling, even if it is unexciting, and we think this is likely to be a really popular machine. DivX support and an SD card reader add to the features, but this player is first and foremost about getting Blu-ray movies onto your TV with minimum fuss and maximum quality. Read more

Panasonic continues its great work in the Blu-ray field with yet another feature-packed player that offers sensational picture performance and a user-friendly operating system. Viera Cast proves to be an attractive addition to an already impressive list of talents, and while the limited choice of YouTube and Picasa won't appeal to everyone, we think there's a lot of fun to be had watching video clips on your living room TV. The Panasonic DMP-BD60 might cost a bit more than the other top-tier Blu-ray Disc players on the market, but in our opinion it's worth it. The BD-Live-capable DMP-BD60 delivers terrific design, a plethora of features, and stellar image quality. In our image-quality tests, the Panasonic DMP-BD60 handled everything well, from bright colours in Pixar animations to subtle shades of grey in black-and-white cinematography. Read more

  1. Concern about full disclosure

A warning to those who might want to purchase this unit. Amazon does not disclose the age of electronic hardware nor the current operating firmware. I purchased this unit two weeks ago believing I was getting a brand new unit. It was brand new but it was a 2009 model that is no longer even being made. I put in new Blu-ray discs and they wouldn't play. Why - because the firmware verson was 1.5 and not the 2.5 required for the new Blu-ray discs. Shame on you, Amazon. Read more

Won't buy anything regardless of brand where the country of origin is China. Had similar problems too many times. Would pay twice as much for something made in USA or Germany where there are actual quality control standards. I'll be lucky to buy milk from the local grocer not made in China. Read more

    • Blue ray player, updating firmware was easy over the internet, it improved the play of older dvds, slim\stylish, controls were intuitive, and all for a moderate price.

Purchase for $199 I thought I was picking up a bargain. That's where my joy ended. The load time for blu rays are a joke. I could've gone and poured myself a drink while it loaded my discs. While scrolling through the menus on several different blurays, all had an approximate 2 second delay to react to me pressing the buttons on the remote. But my biggest concern was the optical out.
