Summary: Coupled to a Panasonic TH-50PZ800U 50" 1080p plasma, this player does a fine job with blu-ray discs. I am delighted with, for example, Planet Earth or Wall-E in blu-ray. However, if you have an extensive DVD collection and are used to viewing them on DVD-resolution EDTV, such as the 42" Panasonic TH-42PW4 plasma that I have owned for five years, be prepared to be disappointed. This player does a very inconsistent job of upscaling DVDs to 1080p.
Summary: I Have only one issue with this player so far. The DTS-HD Master Audio Does not output with Bitstream. I'm using a Yamaha RX-V3800 to decode all the audio coming into it via HDMI. It's not the wire, it's not the receiver. It is definitely the Panasonic player that is not sending out the DTS Mater Audio. The TrueHD audio works just fine but not the DTS. The movie that I am using the DTS audio is "The Mummy".
Excerpt: Blu-Ray is obviously coming into the format war guns blazing. As more and more blu-ray dvds appear on our shelves, more people are beginning to invest in this new way to enjoy movies. This player, is very easy to initially set up, with the instructions easy to follow and are not very complicated in their wording, making it easy for everyone to use.
Pros: "easy initial set up", "excellent picture", "easy to use", "smart looking"
Summary: As a blu ray player and uspscaler of DVDs it performs well although I have seen slight jerkiness on some video (eg planet earth on blu ray - some of the panning shots are not as smooth as they are when playing the standard DVD version). DIVx capability is limited - it will only play standard DIVx (ie not DIVx HD) and only on CD-R/RW and DVD-R discs. Ultra Divx will partially work (with sub title capability) but you do not get the menu so keep to one movie one file.
Summary: This player is small, slim and light and gives an excellent picture and sound. You get all digital sound channels through the HDMI as well which wasn't the case with my previous Samsung player. This means you don't need the separate optical output to get 5.1 sound. It also works really well with my Panasonic TV so I only need the one remote. I've seen complaints about the startup speed but from my experience of other players this one is pretty quick.
Summary: Obvioulsly for the price, there cannot be too much to complain about. Picture clarity does depend on your TV also. I found the player to be a good one, and easy to set up. The BD pictures are balanced and crisp, the sound through my speaker system is also excellent (although the AV sound system does not decode HD Sound signals as yet). There are however downsides to this player.
Sehr gute Bildqualität, wären da nicht die Einschränkungen

Summary: Ich hab mir den Player gekauft, in der Hoffnung meine DVD-Sammlung in aufpolierter Qualität (Upscaling) auf meinem Beamer (Sanyo PLV-Z2) abzuspielen. Da ich bereits seit Längerem die Kabel verlegt hatte, nutzte ich als Übertragungsweg die hochwertige, wenn auch analoge Komponentenleitung (3x Cinch).
