Functional, but barely.

2 June 2012
  • Summary: Get a PS3. Discs load and eject immediately.
  • Pros: None really.
  • Cons: DISC TRAY takes amazingly long to open and shut. I'm serious - push the open - wait 30 seconds then it finally open. Press close again - wait 30 seconds for the tray to retract???!!!! I end up just forcing the tray back in with my hand.

No longer plays blurays - Don't buy Panasonic

BMill, Amazon
19 December 2011
  • Summary: I bought this unit for my sister 2 years ago. At the time we were thrilled with it, save for the non-wi-fi, but whatever. My sister told me that the unit no longer plays blurays, rendering her blu collection useless. I recently checked out the unit, hoping that I could fix it. I updated the firmware. Gave it a 2GB SD Card. Turned off BluRay Live. Did a variety of things, but the unit simply says it can't read any bluray discs. As of now, it can only play DVDS.

poor reliability, ultra slow

Tundra Hound, Amazon
27 November 2010
  • Summary: Not a good blueray player. 1. Wait time just for the disk drive to open is 30-40 secs. My cheap $40 dvd player opens instantly. 2. Load time for BD can be up to 5 mins, but on average is 3 mins. 3. The player has difficulty completing a movie without having a disk read error, thus scrambling the picture. 4. The player does not have a playback ability; therefore you have to restart a disk from the beginning if you turn the player off.

Chokes on DVDs and Blu-Ray discs

Amazon Customer, Amazon
23 December 2009
  • Summary: Bought this in 2008 after reading many glowing reviews. I have had this player for a year now and am very frustrated at its inability to play discs. It either won't read them when inserted or will freeze in mid-movie. This happens with all discs-DVDs from Netflix (not surprising), my lightly used DVDs (should definitely not happen) and even new Blu-Rays of Madagascar and Up will freeze about 75% of the time. This renders the player nearly useless.

Wish I could give this player a great review

  • Summary: Just picked this player up today to attempt to jump on the Blue-ray bandwagon, but so far I've been having nothing but problems. First let me start out with the good part. The Unit looks really good in my entertainment system, the manual was great, I even like the remote. The one thing I liked the most is that it automatically connected to the internet to download the latest firmware as soon as I connected the unit to my network and powered it on.
