Summary: i buy this bd couple months ago its very good pictures and sounds i have problem with my dvd if i put my dvd inside the bd i hear everything but i dont see nothing .Maybe somebody can help me with this .THANKS
Summary: This player won't play some BLU Ray DVD's. Their support site said that I should try a firmware update, but when I contacted their support they replied (after a week) that no firmware update was available. Their support was horrible and very slow to respond. They could offer no help other then "Check if the connected TV is turned on." WTF? I'm done with Onkyo.
Summary: What the claim says is the unit improves standard dvd's to near blu-ray quality. Either my eyes are shot or the claim is absolutely correct. I really cannot tell the difference in picture quality. My flatscreen is a LG 1080 so that is not an issue. Startup is a little long but I suspect that is to extend the life of the moving parts.
Summary: I hooked this up to my Onkyo TX-NR906 Receiver and Sharp LC-46D-64U it was a seamless connection except for a few setting changes.. This Onkyo DV-BD507 is so simple to set up.. I'm not a tech freak but I do have two older Blu-Ray players Sony BDP-S1 & Sharp HP20U They both have great Blu-Ray pictures and excellent up scaling to 1080P.. But this new Onkyo BD507 to me is above excellent on the Blu-Ray movies and the up scaling to 1080P on regular DVD's..
Summary: SUMMARY: The Onkyo DV BD507 shares a similarly uncomfortable position with the Harman Kardon BDP-1: The MSRP of $449 or $499 for this player is comical in this marketplace. This player makes sense around $250 and struggles to make a value propositon for much more than that. At current street prices of $399 (8/20), I would encourage you to pass. I have been running this player through a wide array of BD and SD DVD material.
Summary: I purchased this to lessen the load on our PS3, and I must say that I am impressed. We have this mated to an Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver. I really don't know if it was limitations of our PS3, but it took our blu-rays to a new level as far as surround sound goes. The picture is excellent as well. Hook up, & set up was very easy. The remote is ok, but we control it from the receiver's remote, so not a big deal.
Summary: The image quality from both Blu Ray and the up-scaling of standard DVD's is outstanding with this player. Blu Ray's are expected to look "eye popping" but I've never seen standard DVD look this good on our HDTV. I couldn't be happier with this player and highly recommend for anyone looking for a better quality player than the standard LG, Sony, Samsung, etc. junk that is out there. It doesn't have wifi but I didn't buy it for that.
