Excerpt: A great DVD - Blu Ray player that looks and feels like high quality stereo component equipment. The disc drawer slides open as if on ball-bearings. Silky smooth action. Set up is a breeze with plenty of hook-up options on the back side. Great picture and sound. I chose Onkyo because it did not have automatic wifi. One can hook up wifi dirctly with a cable, though. A great piece of equipment.
Pros: Backwards Compatible, DVD Upconversion, Easy Set-Up, Excellent Image Quality, Good Connections, Good Soundtrack Support, Upgradeable
Excerpt: There are some Fixed problems with the Blu Ray players built after 2011. Sony, Panasonic and Yamaha have no setting so 3Dcmovies can be played in the original aspect ratio filmed. In order to get the true 2: 35-1 or 2: 40-1 for ANY tv size 4: 3 or 16: 9 , you must choose the 4: 3 LETTERBOX. Any other setting will give you no or the thinner BLACL bars (usually 1: 85 to 1 or 1: 78-1 , the latter being equal to 16: 9 HD TVs.
Summary: I've been a fan of Onkyo ever since I sold it on the floor of Circuit City back in College. Needed a 3D player to go along with the tx-nr1010 reciever I purchased at the same time. Picture quality is incredible, build quality A+. Can't go wrong with these guys IMO.
Summary: Purchased the Onkyo BD-SP809 from Amazon (thank god!) and received the unit as promised. After setting the unit up with my Onkyo 5009 receiver, I discovered no Netflix or Vudu, ect. Contacted Onkyo and I was informed they changed or downgraded the BD-SP809 and they no longer offer Netfiix, ect. This feature is important to me because I don't want to back feed the audio to my receiver from the TV.
