Sound is AWESOME

Bob, Crutchfield
23 September 2015
  • Summary: Between this player and the Morrow Audio MA5 balanced cables, I have never experienced better, clearer, richer sound in a home theater. It wasn't cheap, but to borrow a quote from Ferris Bueller, "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
  • Pros: Sound, options for audio output - especially balanced, great video, all the table stakes for blurays (simple navigation, easy to use remote), looks great in the component rack.
  • Cons: You gotta pay to play. It's expensive.

Works perfectly.

Darin Bain, Amazon
21 February 2013
  • Summary: Easy to hook up and very quiet in operation. SACDs sound better than anything else though all sources have excellent fidelity. Excellent when accompanied by high end equipment. Very happy with this unit and I recommend this player for anyone.

QA problems or damage in shipping? Two out of two came with defective tray mechanisms

GB, Amazon
21 February 2013
  • Summary: Two out of two showed up with defects that caused the tray not to open unless I pried it open while it was 'trying'. This makes me think there's a fundamental quality issue and that QA for Marantz has gone astray.

Great player

G. Franco, Amazon
21 February 2013
  • Summary: Have had no issues playing all kind of media: DVD-V, DVD-A, CD, SACD, Bluray. Love the Stereo differential output quality. The only down side is that this player is very slow to boot and do anything.

Amazing Audio, Video, & Bang For The Buck!

John R. Springer, Amazon
21 February 2013
  • Summary: Intro for Technically Inclined Audiophiles: My wonderful 3 Year Old Denon DBP4010UDCI Blu-Ray Player started to sound harsh and grainy at high SPLs, probably due to the Laser Assembly dying of Old Age, and causing too much Jitter, so I had to buy a new Primary Player with a Coaxial Digital Out to...

Great player But...

HogDog, Amazon
21 February 2013
  • Summary: A great player indeed - but no analog outputs. Had to go with the Oppo. HDMI is great for video but the best audio is still analog.

Well done Marantz

Kev Edwards "ZX-10 forever", Amazon
30 October 2013
  • Summary: Firstly can i say i bought this for the new 'Blu-Ray Audio, High Fidelity Pure Audio' format, (Universal Records releases) above visual as i prefer to listen more than i watch. Universal Player yes it is, the previous review from the gentleman who expected it to be 'Multi Region' should have done...

Universal

MR M ISON, Amazon
14 October 2013
  • Summary: It says 'Universal" but that does not mean region free, if you buy in UK it will be region 2. Also no wifi and no cables with it. Marantz are not helpful and as good as say 'You have it so you are stuck with it" I found them very unhelpful over the universal.

I like it very much

Jager Pal, Amazon
22 February 2013
  • Summary: I like it very much, but missing the DSD strimming play. I will be better than it reads it from USB stick. OPPO can do it.
