Summary: Bought this for myself as an early Christmas present. One week out of the box, the Wifi card can't find my network. Sent the unit in for service, and now it recognizes my wireless router.... only after I do a hard reset before I turn the unit on. I'm also an MLB.TV subscriber, and I've spent the last month trying to register my unit for the service, but it kept not allowing me to connect to the server.
Summary: I bought it together with the LG TV, which makes the wifi and internet function of the blu-ray player redundant. However it is still a good product. I found it to be a little sensitive to the disk, and some of my scratched DVD won't play there.
Summary: Rated down because of the difficulty and inconsistency of using the Wi-Fi. Even though signal is shown to be excellent, access to the network and streaming the movie library is intermittent. I also notice that the picture is dark compared to playing the same movie through the X-Box using the same kind of network connection. It plays Blu-Rays fine --however I have an older Samsung that performs that function.
Summary: Had very high expectations for this player. The setup was very easy and the bluray playback was excellent. However, I did not purchase this JUST to play my blurays, my PS3 already does that just fine. I bought it for its streaming and Netcast features, which unfortunately work either satisfactory at best, or, in my case (specifically CinemaNow), not at all. CinemaNow just failed to connect, everything else did.
Ok but i think the sony model is better if you want to stream tv

Summary: If your buying this for internet streaming, think again. I think there's quite a lot of reviews on this, mostly showing 4-5 stars. I was given this as a present, and I thought it was quite cool at first however I rarely use it for the reasons it was bought for. I don't download movies, or anything like that. I buy DVD's/Blu-Rays and prefer to watch them as-is. The player has played everything I've thrown at it, which has been fine.
Summary: I was very happy with this player but can't give it 5 stars because I only tried a limited range of its features. It's certainly backwards compatible - great picture playing a DVD. There was no distracting noise. It also played movies from my external hard-drive, & picked up You-tube & the weather from the internet. I returned it because I also wanted to access BBCIplayer and the LG forum didn't look encouraging.
Summary: manual needed to set up (i found it very technical) once set up this dvd player is like a dream to use easy to navigate through the menus and to update on the internet, still haven't worked out how to use the remote control fully too many buttons for me. the simplink is handy if you have any other LG items you can operate the tv with the dvd remote and vise versa. all in all very impressed.
