Summary: Bought this one because it had a reputation of being able to play many video formats over a network connection to my network storage. Mostly I wanted to play .mp4 & .mkv. It plays my .mkv files very well, but the .mp4 files (what I have most of) play choppy, like frames are dropping off making the motion not smooth. I had a tried a couple of firmware updates but this didn't change.
Summary: The player arrived from Amazon in good time and in good order. Setting it up and connecting it to the TV presented no difficulties. This Bluray player is excellent in some ways but it also has some defects. I found it hard to average them out and come up with an overall rating. Three stars is the compromise I reached. The picture this player sends to the TV is absolutely excellent, in my opinion, and the sound is fine also.
Doesn't have Amazon Instant Video even though the LG Website says it does

Summary: I bought this model because it is wireless and the LG website says that it has Amazon Instant Video. It is true that it is wireless, but it doesn't have Amazon Instant Video. I wouldn't have bought it if I had known that.
Summary: I purchased the BP620 to replace my excellent but slow loading Panasonic DMP-BD35. After many reviews of different models, it came down to a Panasonic and the LG. The price was decent and I purchased the LG. The first Blu-ray I played was Cowboys And Aliens. Picture was excellent, with very little pixelation or artifact. However, I was perplexed when I ejected the tray and it was empty!! The BP620 had eaten my disc.
Summary: One difficulty that we noticed from the very beginning with our LG Blu-Ray player was that many Netflix videos, even the "watch now" videos which can be streamed to a laptop or other device will not work on LG units. I contacted both LG and Netflix, and eventually was told that some Netflix videos are "not yet encoded" for this device. Thinking that meant that they soon WOULD be encoded, I kept trying them.
Summary: I received this Blu-Ray player for Christmas. It loads much faster than my previous player and the functionality in Netflix is far superior as well. However, This player does not support the video formats I'm used to using on my USB drive. Also Amazon Prime is not supported. In addition to those unfortunate things the player did not have a way to program universal remotes for it.
