Summary: I was a little worried about buying a used blu-ray player but i'm glad I did, it's great for watching blu-rays and streaming movies, there's nothing like saving money. SO THANKS AMAZON!!! Stukieb P.S. The blu-ray arrived earlier than expected i've had it for five weeks now so far so good.
Summary: All together not a bad first Blu-ray player. The issues were not very frequent and the Pros outweighed the Cons. For the money I paid I feel that it did what I expected. It was annoying when it froze but again, for a cheap Blu-ray player it worked well and did what it was supposed to do.
Pros: Good video quality, my movies looked great. The upscaling worked well. I found the "Smart" hub to be easy to use.
Cons: The player occasionaly would re-download the firmware updates as they were released. It froze from time to time and the unit was not ver quick.
Summary: I liked my Sony DVD player fine except when I wanted to see some streaming from Netflex, often I got the network down message. It wasn't Netflex, it was the extra step that Sony makes you go through. This one doesn't do that. I'd give it a higher rating except that the display of the programs you have watched or what is suggested is so much larger that you have a lot more scrolling to do. It handles everything I put in it to play just fine.
Summary: Used some of my cashback bonus bucks to purchase so I got a very good deal. It was easy to set up using HDMI. I have not been able to go online with it yet. One problem I have is that it won't play some of my own dvd+R that I have recorded movies from my older VHS tapes. Overall a nice machine and viewable counter.
Summary: The unit does everything I want it to, and does it well. Picture quality is excellent on both Blu Ray and all the apps, which are many but the only ones I use are Netflix, Vudu, Redbull and Pandora. I would buy this one again for sure, I just can't seem to find the perfect Blu Ray player for less than $1000.00 and that is just too much for a working man to afford.
Summary: We have two of these and really like them, the only problem is startup for the Netflix and other apps is very slooo[...] I'm guessing the CPU in these things is weak in order to keep the costs down but it would still be nice if it didn't take so long to start.
Summary: I purchased this used for my father and I tested it out at my house before I gave it to him. Worked fine at my house and and my parents house. I did have it paused for an extended period of time and the disc seemed to lock up for a minute, but the player ended up coming through.
Summary: When playing the blu-ray version of "Avatar", a long message is displayed, the gist of which is that it doesn't have enough storage to play the movie properly and needs an external device with 2 megabytes of free space. It provides the option to continue or cancel the movie, but who wants to "continue" a long movie knowing it could freeze at any time? Inserting a thumb drive into the USB port and restarting the movie remedies the problem.
