Summary: I have used this player 3 times since I bought it. It worked fine the first 2 times. I just played a brand new Blu-ray movie disc which it will not eject. I had to pull the cover to get my disc back! When the tray ejects the disc ends up inside and pushed to the back of the player. I would not purchase a Blu-ray player from LG! Ejecting a brand new disc should be a simple process.
It works for me...so far, but it is probably LG's cheapest unit to date.

Summary: I like these players, although I was reluctant given the negative ratings by some reviewers who were upset that their player wouldn't play some DVD's or Blu-Rays. I haven't experienced that problem with either unit...yet, although it is quite true that these units are not upgradable as there is no internet connection availability to update the firmware. These units also require you to use the internet to review or download the instructions..
Summary: I got this just to have a Blu-Ray player. And it does that quite well. It is a small, compact and quite capable player. It does not stream--but streaming should be done, IMHO, on a separate device like Amazon Fire or Roku 3. The combination of the player and streamer--is a bad idea. Why burn up a DVD player to watch streaming? This machine will play from a thumb drive or an external drive.
Great player but it does not "stream" except through the USB and external storage

Summary: I haven't played any Blu-Ray disks yet (don't have any) but it is easy to set up and operate and the HDMI up is excellent for the standard DVDs. Also read some very positive reviews by tech writers, so far I agree. I don't give it 5 stars because it is a "streaming" player only if the content is on an external storage device via the USB port. It does not stream from the I-net or any other source.
Super Simple - No Nonsense - Quality Blu-Ray / DVD Player
28 July 2014
Summary: This is a great little Blu-Ray / DVD player, by a respected name-brand: LG. It has a small footprint (about the size of an average hardcover book). It provides excellent picture quality, and excellent sound quality. It is super-simple to connect and set-up, and very easy-to-use. Just add your Internet-Streaming Digital Media Player (Amazon Fire or Roku), on top of it, and you have two high-quality products that are each dedicated to what they each do best...
Summary: 1) This player does not record - I have no idea what "direct USB recording" refers to. The back of the device has a/c plug and a HDMI port. Nothing else. 2) This item does not have an ethernet port on the back to connect to internet services as was described by some 3) This player will not play .DIVX, XVID, or most any other format that my 10 year old LG DVD player will happily play. I was unable to play anything from the USB with the exception of an MKV file.
Summary: I purchased this Blu-ray Player for it's simplicity. We did not need a streamer because we have (2) ROKU 3 devices that we are very pleased with. We have (2, different models) Sony Blu-ray players, that are about two years old, that have given us problems since we've owned them. When they will except a Blu-ray disc they have a gorgeous picture and adequate sound. The problem is getting them to acknowledge the Blu-ray disc.
Summary: Player works fine after several trials and errors. A simple instruction sheet would have been helpful in the installation and prevented the extra time in the installation. Although simple to operate, the accompanying remote seems capable to landing the space shuttle. Now that I have educated myself in it's use, I am satisfied with the player.
