Summary: Had to call the company at least once a week for tech support. The CSR was always very polite. We would do soft resets, hard resets and reboots. All of which would work for a few days. Then we would repeat the process all over again. I was told to return the product for repair/replacement. When I opened the emailed instructions, I found that we would have to pay to get the repair/replacement up to $85.00. Why would I do that when a new one is less than $150.00?
Summary: Look for another product. I'd replace it but am too cheap!
Pros: Easy to use interface. Image quality good.
Cons: It needed to be repaired almost immediately. Sometimes it reboots for no apparent reason. Gets rather finicky and buggy when it has a DVD in the tray and loaded. Works better (say using Netflix) when tray is empty.
Summary: I am not a heavy at home movie renter/watcher but I wanted a decent quality Blu-ray/DVD player. Did my research online and took a chance on LG. In June of 2011, the reviews were favorable for the BD670 but reviewers cautioned that LG's customer service left something to be desired. First 10 months of use, I only watched DVD's. The unit made a lot of noise loading the disc but would eventually get it loaded and would playback fine.
Pros: None whatsoever
Cons: Wont play Blu-ray discs, Horrible customer service, Pathetic warranty
Summary: I bought this player, despite the myriad warnings of others about the imminent failure, characterised by the whining of the disk drive and its failure to play discs. Well, it happened to me after less than 3 months... with VERY little use! The first product I have rated as 1 star, after shopping at Amazon for nearly 20 years! This is the single biggest piece of junk that I've ever wasted my money on.
LG BD670 - The last LG product I will buy for the rest of my life
28 October 2012
Summary: I bought the LG BD670 about 10 months ago and have had problems with it off and on since I bought it. It played Blu-ray great when it worked. The wireless network connection continously has to be reset. This was resolved temporarily, but seems to be broken again. Also, although the Smart TV feature contains a good list of apps, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Youtube, etc., streaming has never worked well.
Summary: I ignored negative reviews - "clunking, grinding in disc player" and bought this in mid-summer. By fall the player, hardly used, couldn't hole a screen format and flipped back and forth between wide-screen and normal with each scene change ( but never clunked). Customer service for LG is good; they diagnosed problem on phone and offered repair for $69 (labor). No thanks. LG should stick to refrigerators.
Summary: This DVD player was an absolute waste of money. I should have listened to the user reviews instead of the CNET review. I made a massive mistake. We specifically bought this to stream Netflix, and it only works around 10% of the time. It also frequently will not play DVDs -- as in, it will play a disc one day, then won't play it the next day, then will the day after, etc. There is nothing wrong with our Internet; our computers stream Netflix in the same room just fine.
Pros: It was easy to set up, but that is the only good thing that can be said about it.
Cons: :will not stream Netflix, :will not play DVDs
Summary: I'm a technology professional and I almost never bother to write reviews. Further, I generally like LG products and I buy them for myself and I sell them to my customers. But this LG BD670 Bluray Player is the worst consumer product I've ever bought. I bought one just before Christmas 2011. It had problems with the disc controls and needed frequent resets (read that 'power cycles'! So I returned it and got another one...it had all the features I wanted, after all.
Summary: this thing works correctly about 10% of the time. Every two weeks or so it cannot connect to the network and you have to go through the process again, which doesn't ever work first time. The picture quality is pretty good but it studders constantly on some days, not at all others. I've tried streaming on my laptop to see if it's the network, laptop works fine. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. We have had problems with every LG appliance we own.
