Summary: All the features are working well as mentioned except playing the normal VCD. I have tried many VCDs and the effect is the same. For other formats, it is OK. I have upgraded the firmware and the issue still persists.
Summary: I got this on sale for $139, and thought I was getting a deal. Not so. Ended up replacing this particular unit with a $69 Sony (no 3D) that runs circles around it. Even out of the box, this unit seemed like a lead brick when compared to the Sony. Always thought LG was a reliable brand...no more.
Pros: I've now replaced it with a Sony.
Cons: Worked semi good for first 3 months owned. VERY slow startup. Started "hanging" on discs after 3 months (not scratched discs, NEW discs). Discs would hang at same spots over and over again....so I suspected scratches...not so...they were perfectly unblemished discs which played fine in every othe...
Summary: I would not recommend this device to anyone. I struggled to use it for 5 months--sometimes it worked, but had to constantly log into my home network, like every day I used it. The device would crash as well from time-to-time and needed rebooting.
Summary: Since I recently set up a media server at my house, and am looking to move to internet streaming and cutting cable, I was needing a another media player. The room in question did not have a blue ray or dvd player either, so I wanted a device that would do both. The BD650 does fine with discs.
Summary: Would be really good if this would play my itunes m4a files (which is my entire collection of music). Otherwise, good solid unit for Blu Ray, watching Netflix, Internet Radio, etc. UPDATE: Now no longer supports MOG. Time for a new player, reduced rating to two stars.
Life is Good, but its not because of LG. Cheap, cheap, cheap...
Ace Cool, Amazon
21 November 2011
Summary: The LG BD 650 BluRay player I purchased in July 2011 will no longer play a disc, it will vibrate the heck out it though. So today is November 21st, the player lasted 4 months of very light use. I would say we have used the player maybe 15 times to watch a DVD or BluRay movie.
Summary: Pros: Plays most everything very well. Haven't had many issues with it. Will recognize nearly all network resources including shared network drives. This is a major plus as the player does not need an UPnP/DLNA server to play content. It will play content directly from shared network drive.
Summary: New Egg shipped this in the box it is displayed in. Home Depot did the same with a compressor I bought and UPS trashed it. The blue ray player survived with no APPARENT damage. If companies are going to try and save a few bucks by not properly packing items we buy online, I am going to quit buying...
Pros: 3d at a good price
Cons: WIFi ready means you need to purchase a wifi adapter to use it wirelessly. Don't know how I missed that. Doesn't support composite video
