Summary: I was looking to replace my antiquated DVD player with a Blu-ray player with WiFi connectivity. After reading various reviews, the LG BD570 seemed to be the favorite choice of most. I finally pulled the trigger, and after one day, am glad I did.
Summary: This is my first venture into Blu-Ray but I did not jump right into the purchase. After months of researching I decided this one best fit my needs. It was so easy to set up (I have it hooked up to a LG55LH90 HDTV) as it pulls the television over to it when the Blu-Ray is turned on.
Summary: I was torn between the Samsung bd-c6500 and this LG player. I chose the samsung because I have had pretty good success in the past with Samsung ---terrible mistake. The samsung would not stay connected to my network---and I had just bought a brand new Netgear router-their latest model.
Summary: I have had about 3 updates since I have owned this box so far. The software update can take as long as 30 mins (I timed it after reading some of the reviews here and it's really that long). One update did finish in about 3 mins, so just be prepared to leave the box sit for a while if you update it.
Pros: Between the Netflix streaming and the ability to play almost any video file found in the dark recesses of the Internet, you may not turn on cable box anymore after purchasing this device. Very easy to use and automatically updates its software.
Cons: Plays many file formats (AVI and MP4 to name a few) but will not play MKV. These can be trans-coded on a PC to MP4, so not a big deal.
Summary: We did a lot of research before buying and we are very pleased. It goes without saying that the Blu ray videos look great as do the up converted DVD's. DNLA is very handy and although it's a little slow through the wireless, navigating through pictures and video is easy.
Pros: The full front cover makes the unit look very clean and it opens/closes automatically with the DVD tray. It has the extra features we wanted including integrated wireless, DNLA and Netflix. Quick start-up. Intuitive remote control. Easy setup.
Cons: We connect through our DLink wireless router and occasionally it will loss the connection settings. Reconnecting isn't a big deal but we use a network key that has numbers, as well as upper/lower case letters so it takes a little bit of time to enter the key. I was not able to update the firmware...
Summary: Great player for the money in my opinion. Couldnt find a wifi connectable player for this price anywhere! Thanks Newegg!
Pros: This is my first Blu-ray player and is awesome. Easy to set up, very easy to navigate through menus. Great picture and sound! I have it connected to my router via LAN cable and is very quick to load. Originally bought this unit because it is wifi ready, but I had a LAN cable long enought to reach...
Cons: It took 2 tries to update software for player. But not sure if it was the player or my connection. All is good though!
Summary: I love newegg.com, you guys are great. AWESOME prices and super quick shipping. Keep up the GREAT work.
Pros: Did some research prior to buying a blu-ray player and the BD570 had great reviews. I'm super pleased will this player, it works great, easy to use and looks slick. It my every first blu-ray player. I have it hard wired to my home network as I'm not a big fan of wireless (in my home anyway) but I...
Cons: Only thing I that could have been better was the packaging. It was shipped in the original box. It was fine, no damage or anything but it would have been better to be placed into another box with the packing foam.
Summary: I would reccomend this player. LG always seem to make solid products with good features at a more than reasonable price.
Pros: I bought this as a family present for Christmas. Blu-ray has played flawlessly but we also got it for the netflix streaming ability which also works well. Features like Picasa web album viewing, napster and pandora radio and youtube make this a pretty well rounded media player.
Cons: Menus can be a bit sluggish. Online updating is painfully slow. Don't choose to download and install any updates unless you have an hour or 2 to kill (like right before wanting to watch a movie!)
