travelingrammy, LG Electronics Ratings and Reviews

Summary: I received this as a gift. Ive used it for six months and the picture froze. Then it started kicking the dvd out and wouldnt play. I would unplug it and reset it and it would work for a few days. Then it just quit all together. I read reviews on other sites and everyone of them had the same problem I had.
Summary: In general I like LG products. There is only one USB port on the box which is located on the front. The WI-FI dongle plugs into the USB port. Makes the unit look stupid with a 3 inch black dongle protruding from the front. LG should have popped the extra 50 cents and put a second USB port in the back.
Summary: I actually ordered another of this model of the LG Blu Ray disk player and had the same result. The model shipped was made for Brazil. I know this because when it came its default language was spanish, and it had none of the Netcast features. So, I called LG, and they explained the model I had was built for sale in Brazil, and could not have the Netcast features.
Summary: I would categorize myself as being an up to date techwize person, and after spending 1/2 a day trying to get this unit to work wireless, I sent it back. It must have been defective, because I have DirecTV, and a WII unit, both downloading movies with no problem, and no router program changes. I even disconnected these to make sure there was no conflict with the other devices.
Summary: This LG player seems to be a good value at first, but there are several features that detract from the overall rating. Pros: --easy to setup --price is reasonable (you get what you pay for) Cons: --menu navigation is jumpy, often times I would select an option and the menu would jump back to the previous screen, ***Netflix menu navigation is extremely jumpy and slow when compared to my Roku player --if you want to play media from a thumb drive, you must remove the...
Summary: I purchased this Blu-ray player to bring wireless streaming video to my HDTV, but it doesn't even come close to fulfilling this role in a satisfactory manner. Compared to both my PS3 and Apple TV, both of which are connected via wireless, the LG BD640 takes an order of magnitude longer to connect to Netflix, load titles, and receive data for playback.
Summary: I bought this unit thinking it would be great since it has a network connection. What a joke !!! After spending hours trying to get it to connect through my cable connection, it just sits there and tells me that there is an upgrade available. When I try to download the upgrade it justs sits there and then times out. My cable connection is rated at 5MPS and I've had it checked. Be careful with this one!!!
Summary: I bought this as my first blue-ray player because of the low price and variety of options. My player worked just fine when playing discs and using the internet-connected applications. My problem came when streaming Netflix. Because this is one of the requirements I had, I was severely disappointed. While watching episodes and movies on Netflix, the player would shut off at random, and there was no reason for this.
