Summary: This is a piece of garbage. I bought it new and left it in box for 2 years. I took it out of box, it worked fine for first disc and after that it refused to read any discs after playing the first one. I have tried everything. I even updated the ROM on it using the instructions provided by JVC. Needless to say I am very dissapointed in this purchase. It pretty much was DOA.
Summary: I bought this because although I had a dvd player, I needed another player so opted to go ahead and foray into blu-ray. It looked like a good entry level player but what I got was nothing but trouble. It plays a disc once in a while and the ones that do play take multiple times of ejecting and unplugging and restarting just to get it to load.
Summary: We purchased this unit with our new LG high def TV having many JVC devices in my home. At first I thought it was a great unit until I found problems playing some of the new released Blu-Rays. Back to the Future, Avatar and several others do not play even when the software is updated. I put it on our Sony system and they work fine. It seems the software isn't kept current enough for the newer disks!
Summary: I don't mind bells and whistles, but generally I like my products to just one thing and do it well. I have a simple cell phone that I use to make calls. I have a bone-stock truck that I use to get around. So all the features over and above the ability to play DVDs and Blu-ray discs are not that important to me. In this case, though, I needed a little something extra. I was looking for a BD player that was also a region-free DVD player, and I thought I'd found it.
Summary: Lasted 7 months, now screen flashes black every few seconds over HDMI output. Probably not worth the hassle of dealing with JVC customer service. Player was always annoying since it doesn't save your place in discs you've already started. Another piece of electronics going to the dump.
Summary: I bought this JVC XVBP11 as a blu-ray player/cd audio player for my audio/video setup in my mancave. (basement) I have only watched maybe 10 movies and a probably 25 audio cd's on it. It has worked fine until today (about 7 months since I purchased it) Now, it has a subtle crackling (distortion) noise in the audio. Picture is fine. I know its the player because I have a 10 year old Panasonic DVD/CD audio player in my system also and it works fine.
Summary: My story is like a similar story above. Bought for Father's Day for my husband and now only plays dvds. I am so frustrated and angry. Started to have trouble playing my Toy Story 3 blu-ray though it is in beautiful condition, absolutely no scratches. Once I would keep trying it 3 or 4 times and cleaning it in between, it would work. Today, all other blu-rays stopped working as well.
Summary: I bought this player in April and everything worked fine for a couple of months. Now in January it only plays dvds. Every once in awhile I get a blu ray to work. I've updated my firmware and that did nothing. I even opened it up to check for dust, but there was none. I will never buy from JVC again.
Summary: Seemed to work for a couple months then started to only play select bluray dvd's. I updated the firmware and this had no effect.JVC stated I need to pay to ship it to them and they will pay for parts but I need to pay for labor. It will be at a yard sale soon.
