Summary: Three years ago we purchased an Insignia Blu Ray player. Now it is outdated and will not play new Blu Rays . We called Insignia regarding this, and they said tough luck. One manager went as far as you say the customer is always wrong and perhaps we should have purchased Sony. I can't believe a company would be so awful. After 3 years a Blu Ray player will not work on new movies anymore .
insignia discontinued product. won't work with new blu-ray discs.

Summary: Insignia discontinued making all Blu-ray players, and do not support updates to the Firmware. I tried to play "The Heat" (Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy) and it wont play. Screen says, "WARNING. Your Blu-ray player requires an update in order to play this disc." I checked their web site and they basically said, Oh, well. I didn't realize it was a Best Buy brand. I read that on a few discussion boards.
Summary: You're wasting your money on this product (and, frankly, on any Insignia product). Insignia refuses to upgrade its firmware and cares nothing for the suckers who were dumb enough to buy their products in the first place. In practical terms, this means that the newest Warner Brothers discs will not play on the Blu-Ray player at all, and that older discs will not have all their functions accessible.
Summary: I bought this player 2 year ago, in 2011. Ironically, when I bought it, it was discontinued shortly after. I got the last firmware update for this model the day I opened it. 2 days ago I bought Epic on BluRay. It requires a firmware update, which Insignia will not be making. The follow up for this player, NS-WBRDVD2, has the same problem. Insignia has made a second follow up player, NS-WBRDVD3, which is about to be discontinued.
Summary: Bought the first one four or five years ago. Worked great, loved the wi-fi and Netflix. Bought a second one. Same result. Gave one to my mother and she loved it. Bought a third one and it worked great also. Gave one of the two left to a friend and bought a fourth one. None of the four have ever had a problem.
Summary: ***Works ok for streaming**** if that is your reason to buy it...be aware that the network connection goes away when you turn the DVD player off. Fairly easy to correct just a pain that you have to do it. Other then streaming it's a POC... It will work for a while then it stops reading disk. You can try to turn it on and off and "some times" will wee read the disk. Not worth the trouble. It is so bad if you look on the Insignia website it is discontinued. [...
Summary: I initially needed a multi region blu ray player in addition to my current PS3. I needed something cheap, so after some research, decided to buy this player. it only takes a 5 minute firmware downgrade through USB. and plays absolutely any DVD or blu ray you throw at it. i should remind you that i do not use it for WI FI capabilities, and I hear people are having trouble viewing netflix etc.
