Summary: Three years ago we purchased an Insignia Blu Ray player. Now it is outdated and will not play new Blu Rays . We called Insignia regarding this, and they said tough luck. One manager went as far as you say the customer is always wrong and perhaps we should have purchased Sony. I can't believe a company would be so awful. After 3 years a Blu Ray player will not work on new movies anymore .
A Blue Ray Player that Doesn't Play Blue Ray Discs...

Summary: This player worked for the first month I had it. It never was able to connect to the internet wirelessly. I have had if for 2 years now and it is now a blue ray player that won't play blue ray discs. It will play music CDs and usually will play DVDs but It will not read a blue ray disc. Not happy with it. I would replace it but I have to pay for school, so it's not in the budget right now. I am just writing this to warn anyone considering this worthless product.
Summary: I did not purchase this item on Amazon, but I used the reviews on Amazon to make my purchasing decision. I feel it necessary to correct one glaring inaccuracy I found with another review, however. THIS MODEL OF BLU-RAY PLAYER DOES NOT PLAY NETFLIX OR ANY OTHER STREAMING CONTENT!
Summary: I bought this product upon Consumer Reports recommdation. It was a real disappointment. It takes several minutes for the drawer to open and the disk to load. The quality of the picture and sound were great- espcially for the price, However we have had it a little over a year before it stopped working- can't read any disks. My advise- DO NOT BUY!
Had two of these and wanted to throw both out the window...

Summary: Both of the ones we had suddenly stopped playing the DVD's we had always successfully played on it in the past. Blu ray's didn't work, DVD's didn't work. We had the same problem with both, they each only lasted a few months. What a crock!
This product is horribly flawed for netflix playback!

Summary: I bought this player thinking it would be a great bluray/netflix combo. Well guess what, I have a wireless n network in close proximity, and this player has had nothing but problems connecting to netflix since I got it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I really wish I could smash a hammer through it if I wouldn't regret the money I spent on it. Maybe when I'm rich one day I'll smash a hammer through this and then run it over with my car. Argh.
Summary: After fooling with a Samsung BD-P1600 for literally a week trying to get the wi-fi to work, I took it back and got this Insignia for a little less. And within 2 minutes of getting it out of the box I had it hooked up to my TV via HDMI and my internet via wi-fi and was streaming a movie from Netflix. The Netfix is my favorite part about the player. It works well with my 3 MB/sec DSL connection.
Summary: The main reasons I hate, yes hate, this blu-ray player. 1) The remote is terrible. The buttons don't work unless you mash down on them with a lot of force, and even then sometimes they don't work. Get a universal remote, you say? There are NO UNIVERSAL REMOTES THAT WORK WITH THIS despite what the salesmen may tell you. 2) Does not work with WEP but does not state this in the manual.
Summary: I bought this item as a christmas gift for my mother who is very hard to please, she loved it!! excellent quality, very fast shipping. I ordered a used item and received one that was basically brand new. VERY PLEASED!!
Summary: I used to own a Roku and I used it almost every day for my daughter who loves all the children's programs that are available. After about 1and half years the roku broke I did a little research and found out that insignia made a blueray player for $100.00 that would stream Netflix. I got it home, did the software update, which only took 2 min, and started using the streaming video from Netflix. I love the menu for Netflix that insignia created.
