Summary: I'm throwing this away today as it is quite dead. It powers on, then back off. This is after just barely over a year of not ejecting disks, taking a minute or two to start playing a disk, and sounding more like a weed whip than a blu-ray player. You do not want this player.
Summary: I bought this a year and a half ago and have had problems with it the whole way, leading up to now when it finally just died. When I first bought it, it was INSANELY noisy. The player vibrated so loudly while it played a DVD or a Blu-Ray disc that you could hear it nearly anywhere in the house. Obviously, that's no way to watch a movie. After repeated e-mails and phone calls, I was able to get a firmware update from Memorex and that solved the noise problem.
Summary: Brand new right out of the box there were problems that took WEEKS to solve (skipping/freezing required a firmware update that needed to be mailed to me on a disc). Discs took too long to load and after just a little over a year of VERY slight use and TWO attempts at firmware updates, the motherboard has died (the unit thinks there is a USB loaded when there isn't one -- I never even used the unit for anything other than DVDs, CDs and BDs!).
Summary: Hello, Memorex gave us this model to replace another of their players. When we first got the device we had the loud drive on dvds along with skipping. However after the firmware update it was great! Would recommend to anyone!!
Good value once you update the firmware. No more noise!

Summary: My bluray unit had the same problem that everyone is citing in their reviews here. While playing any dvd, it was obnoxiously loud and vibrated to the point that you couldn't even enjoy the video. Problem 100% solved by updating the firmware for it. Took less than 5 minutes: 1) Download the firmware patch at [...
Summary: Like all the other reviewers I too had a problem playing reguar dvds. The noise was unbearably loud. I didnt have any skipping issues though. Two days ago I noticed that there is a new firmware update on their site. So I donwloaded this update and burned it to a disc. Once the disc was burned I poped it in the drive and the player updated itself in seconds. This unit now plays without any problems. I am extremely satisfied with this player now.
Summary: Picked this up from a big store when they had it on sale- really wished I would have checked the reviews before I brought it home. I have the same problems as other reviewers though so I will be replacing this unit in the near future. Pros: picture quality is good sleek design Cons: very slow loading remote signal is weak and not user friendly loud fan skips like crazy while playing brand new dvds
Summary: Not worth $25 let alone $100. I don't have many Blu-ray discs yet so my review is based on DVD play. - The fan on this player is terribly noisy! Sitting 15+ feet away from it and it is still really loud. - It takes a long time for the disc to load and until it does, you cannot eject the disc. - Discs skip A LOT. There was no pattern to it, it just skipped at the very least every minute or two. - The remote is extremely cheap.
Summary: I bought this player as my first blu-ray player. It was only $100 so I figured, why not? My DVD player had finally pooped out on me, so midas well upgrade. I was amazed at the picture quality and finally understood why everyone was going ga-ga for blu-ray. (My first blu-ray movie was Star Trek!) The problems were when I first tried a DVD. The DVD kept skipping! If you're reading this, I'm sure you've read a few reviews and I assure the skipping DVD thing is a problem.
Summary: I got this for just over $100 and I'm satisfied. I didn't want to break the bank on my first blu-ray and this one has been satisfactory to this point. It definitly skips regular dvd's, but its only a slight annoyance for me (only skips a bit once every 15/20 minutes). The blu-ray quality is pretty good and no skipping issues. The player is definitely loud and most certainly will shake whatever its sitting on.
