Summary: I was getting tired of an aging Sony unit I purchased a few years ago when bluray was a new tech, it was slow to respond and discs with a lot of features always seemed to load really slowly. Summary: Yes. I finally bought this Blu-Ray player. I currently have a Sony. I read mostly great Customer reviews on the net. Only one or two customers got bad machines/but you can get a lemon in anything. Looking forward to receiving mine.
Summary: In the past 3 months, I've gone through several Bluray and Universal players in search of something that would replace my trusty PS3. Started off with a Pioneer BDP62 universal player. I got it on clearance at a local Magnolia store, and it was a nice machine. The unit was attractive and sturdy, and it flawlessly played bluray, DVD-audio, and SACD's. Load times were super quick too. The only issue was an intermittent 'flashing' while playing blurays.
Summary: This Denon DBT-1717 Blue Ray replaced a 13 year old Sony DVD player, and wow, what a difference. Super simple set up. Excellent quality. Fantastic picture & sound on a 40" Sony LED TV with a Denon AVR-X2000 receiver. At first I balked at paying a lot for a Blu Ray player, but after seeing the strikingly cheap plastic at the local big box store, I realized you get what you pay for!
