It’s Friday, a good day for a cellphone review eh? I’ve got the Pantech Matrix dual slider qwerty phone for AT&T for review today, I’ve used the phone for the last week every day doing what you would normally do with a phone… in my time with the Matrix I’ve actually come to like it very much, it’s a nice little phone that is lightweight, well made, easy to use and it’s got decent battery life as well. The Matrix features a dual slider with standard keypad and full qwerty keyboard that allows for quick and easy texting and emailing. It also features a video camera that you can zoom while recording, a 1.3MP still camera, Bluetooth, MP3 player and even XM radio. For phone reviews I give them seven days of everyday use, the phone being reviewed replaces my regular phone and goes with me everywhere, if by seven days I’m not accustomed to the phone then it’s go some problems that need to be worked out. With the Matrix I had no real problems at all, after a couple days of using it I was very comfortable with it. The Pantech Matrix is really a great little phone…
First up of course we’ve got the video unboxing

Since I’m on AT&T already all I had to do was pop in my sim card and I was ready to go, of course I threw in a microSD card as well for good measure to make sure everything worked alright. So I charged the phone and I got a little over three hours talk time actually, and I was using my Jawbone2 BT headset with it so Bluetooth was running most of the time as well. Since I was actually using the phone for the last week I couldn’t leave it sit for ten days in stand by to check that , but if the talk time I got is any indication of the battery life then the Matrix should easily get the rated ten days. The Matrix is smaller than my AT&T Tilt, so it took a bit to get accustomed to it, the size and the interface that is. Since it is a dual slider I found it easier to talk on the phone if it was slid out vertically, it added more body to the phone to hold onto. The keyboard slides to the left which for me is very odd as my Tilt slides to the right, using it though was actually easy, the keys look small but I was typing on it very easily with no problems at all. The interface is essentially the same as the Rugby that I reviewed a while back, it’s still full of AT&T Bloat and everywhere you turn they’re trying to get you to buy something, it gets annoying, really it does, why does it have to be on every single menu? Besides that though the interface seems to work, for me it was a bit confusing coming from a Windows Mobiles Based Device, even after a week I still got lost in the navigation, but I was coming around. Here’s a video of the interface in action, with comments along the way: As for service I had no problems, I’m on AT&T because it works for me in my area perfectly, and I’ll be with them for some time to come I’m sure. I’ve tried two other companies and it was hard for me to even get a call in my house with them, but with AT&T I’ve got no problems with that. Call quality was very clear, everyone I spoke too said I sounded fine even through the Bluetooth connection. The Matrix itself is a great little phone really, it feels very well made, it looks heavier than it actually is. I had no problems pairing my Jawbone2 BT headset with it, it worked every time I turned it on. The GPS is Assisted GPS using the AT&T’s own navigation system, so you’ll either have to subscribe to it or pay extra charges. It works fine in a pinch, but of course nothing beats a real GPS system. The included camera is ok for stills as long as there’s enough light, and even indoors the pictures are generally decent as long as you hold the phone steady. The video recording is a bit worse in low light or indoors though. Here’s a sample movie taken with the Matrix: You can see the video isn’t the greatest indoors, outdoors in brighter light is better, but not much really, and besides it’s only 15 second clips so you won’t be filming any movies with it. and here are some sample pictures taken in both portrait and landscape modes: The still pictures are actually not too bad, they’re a bit fuzzy, but surprisingly good as long as you hold the phone very still and there’s enough light. It’s not too good with close ups and dark images as you can see with the NZXT Avatar mouse and the back of my AT&T Tilt phone. The brighter ones are a bit better, and even close up they’re not too bad. One thing that irks me about the picture system in the phone is that you can’t take pictures quickly, and this was the same for the Samsung Rugby as well. What I mean is that when you take a picture it won’t automatically save it so you can just take another picture, you’ve got to save it manually before taking the next shot. That’s fine if you want to preview every picture you take and make sure it’s ok, but what if I don’t want to preview every picture? I couldn’t find anything in the settings to change this either, like to turn preview on or off… I guess it’s more of a personal preference from using a regular camera as much as I do.

Conclusion:
I might be a bit biased here, but I love phones with full keyboards on them, most all of my phones have had keyboards on them so I like the Matrix for including a keyboard.
The Pantech Matrix is a great little phone, call quality is excellent, as is battery life and overall usability. If you’re in the market for a new phone then I suggest you give the Matrix a try, it’s small, lightweight, and has got some great features that I’m sure anyone would appreciate.
The camera could be improved a bit, and of course getting rid of the AT&T bloat would make the phone even more enjoyable to own.
Pros:
Easy to use
QWERTY Keyboard
Well made
Quick and easy to slide either way
Excellent sound clarity
Good battery life
Cons:
Pictures and video not good indoors/low lighting
ATT Bloat included

I loved the matrix i got for my birthday a day before it was supposed to start being sold at stores but it is having the same problems alot of people reported with the duo. It won’t hold a charge after a week of having it. It failed me completely and the people in the store didn’t argue one second about returning it as soon as I said I have a pantech they started showing me other phones. and as soon as i said i had a matrix they guessed what my problem was and didnt even offer to replace it with another.

I have been reading reviews on this phone on different sites for about 40 minutes now. I really like the key board and it looks great to me! I was reading reviews on AT&T for the different colors, and saw that the black/green was less because the keyboard had apparently fallen off on more than a few. I really like the red one, and that has not occurred there. Would it be likely to occur on the red phone also? If you think so, please tell me. I am deciding between the black/green and the red. Also before this phone came out, I was looking at the pantech duo, and I compared it to the matrix, and it looks crappy compared to this, so I will definitely be getting this phone instead of the duo. If you can tell me if the keyboard part will fall off please email me at rachelroks9@yahoo.com also if you have any reviews that I might like I would love this! Thank you so much!

This is just a warmed over Helio Ocean, not to impressed as the Ocean looks a lot better plus the Ocean has a much better camera and has been out for almost two years now.

nice review. i’ve had the pantech matrix (black/green) for about a week now as well. i really like this phone, but would like to remove the at&t bloatware. i’ve scoured the internet and i was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. i’m a former Moto Razr user, so modding is second nature to me and I just don’t feel right with a branded phone.
feel free to email me at the above address if you have any insight as to where i could look.
thanks, b,

i’ve reading Matrix reviews for days and havent made up my mind on if i want to buy it or not
i have really big hands so i dont know if i should get it since alot of reviews said the keyboard was really small. A few more questions of mine is how good is the battery if you charge for 24 hours the first time also how good is te camera. Does the video recorder records for very long
if you could email me and tell me if its a good phone that would be great

Just got this phone about 3 days ago, I love it. I got the red and its really cool looking. I can hear people very clear which was an issue with another phone I had. Keyboard works great. All around great cell phone. If you are thinking about getting this phone you will not be dissapointed.

Hey everyone, here is some information found from the specs page directly from AT&T’s wireless website.
http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-details/?device=Pantech+Matrix+-+Red&q_sku=sku3020374
Aside from that, I just have to say that I’m heavily leaning towards this phone as I now have an old as hell Samsung. It’s 5 years old and still works great, but I’m just wanting an upgrade (very much looking forward to having a qwerty capable phone) . Features that make me happy about the phone are the 1280 x 960 screen resolution, the fact that it’s a 3g network phone, and has great music and email support.

I got this phone a month ago, and I had issues with it charging the second day and now it charges fine, but now my call quality sucks. My signal strength stays at three bars or less and it constantly drops calls. I also have issues placing calls at times, my phone just says “Please try again” on the screen or it will hang in calling mode for several seconds (about five to ten seconds). Sometimes I just hang up and try again. My old razor that was hanging by a thread worked better with the calling and signal quality. I plan on taking my back into the store to get it checked because it it is getting worse and pretty ridiculous. Also the picture quality is poor imho. Otherwise, it a fairly decent phone.

I’m not sure if I can ask questions here, but I can’t get my entire buddy list to load onto my AIM, when accessing it from my Matrix. Can anyone help? Please! I’ve been searching for hours!!!

My husband bought me the Pantech Matrix- Red about two days ago. I LOVE IT! I love having the option of using the qwerty keyboard or just sliding up to make a call. As someone else said calls are BEYOND clear…so clear sometimes I wonder if I person is still there. lol If your a avid texter like me then i’d say GO FOR IT!!! This phone is awesome.
24/11 - 2008 at 4:14
i cant wait to get mine in like 4 days!! my friend has it and its awsome to text on so if ur a really big texter like me, get this phone!! good review it helped me alot
24/11 - 2008 at 9:29
I had a Matrix. Not even a week later one of the slides came off. I took it to the store and they replaced it. A week later that one did the same thing. I really miss the phone, it was great!!! But I couldnt keep going through phones like that.
24/11 - 2008 at 23:14
i really want the matrix…it seems like such a good phone, but it is a little on the expensive side. I am only 12 years old, but i still think that a QWERTY keybord would be great…for texting purposes mostly…:-D. I have read mixed reveiws on the battery hold…so could someone tell me about how long the battery lasts, and if it comes with a car charger. The stinkin $10 phone I have now is very lmtd, including the battery juices, which i have to charge about every night. I might be gettin it for Christmas this year…(mom nd dad if ur readin this, *hinthint*) so….yea. Thats it, thanks guys! please answer my questions!

My name is vanessa and i have a matrix, for about 2 weeks if that, and my top part of the slider came off, im starting to read that this is common, that sucks, why did they make this cool phone just to piss us off, anyone have this happen to them, email me nessa7960632@yahoo.com
26/11 - 2008 at 2:13
So far my Matrix is a piece of crap. I exchanged the first one already as it constantly lost signal and dropped calls. I mean like every other call it would drop AND I didn’t even move. Occasionally it would not send texts. I exchanged it and now I have tried to send several texts and they all come back as unsent, in the outbox. Then I’m told the person is getting double texts. Umm if it didn’t send why did they get double texts.
Also, just sitting here I watch the bars go from 0 to 5 and all possibilities in between to searching for a signal and all the while changing from E (Edge) to G (GSM) to 3G. I haven’t dropped any calls yet but that’s only because I haven’t made any. I’m fairly certain I’ll be back at the store tomorrow or I’ll through it out the car window.
I have yet to be able to make a call either. Every call I have tried to make the phone just says dialing and hangs up. But I have 5 bars. So this then begs the question, what do the bars really mean? My frustration level, I’m sure.
26/11 - 2008 at 4:07
I love this phone!!! I am a professional at losing and breaking phones, but so far I’ve been REALLY careful. The keyboard is great especially for texters like me. My only complaint is that I really need a cover for it because it gets smudged easily. I don’t think they are available yet. For all of you out there looking for a phone, i completely recommend it!

Red Pantech Matrix Problems Please Help?
I got my red pantech matrix on Saturday and it was working fine. Then a few hours passed and I tried to make a phone call and it said invalid card. I turned my phone off and on,it worked. Then a few hours later it did the same thing. So on sunday I went and got a new sim card thinking that would fix my problem,Well it didn’t, it did the same thing. So I went back and got a new Red Pantech Matrix and like before it was working, then it said the same thing,oh yeah then it also said invalid Ims something like that. Does anyone know why? Oh and I can get one the Internet on my phone even when it says invalid card. This is getting really frustrating having to turn my phone on and off again and not knowing if I get a call or text.
28/11 - 2008 at 18:42
I love the Matrix. It is so thick and very enjoyable when I play with it.
28/11 - 2008 at 20:02
How does this phone obtain it’s songs? Do I have to download them from ATT, or is there some way that I can hook it up to the computer and import sound files from there? This is a primary concern, as I’m looking for an MP3 player that I can hook up to my car stereo while I’m on the go (e.g. an aux sound output, or a way for the bluetooth to hook into a car stereo and play the music there)
Seriously considering getting one. On battery life, I’m looking for something like my little Motorola; I don’t use it often but to check times etc., goes about 3 days without any kind of charging (with my amount of cell phone use) after 3 years of using it on a daily basis. And durability; my motorola has been dropped on nearly a monthly basis, partially run over with a car, caught in a foot rest in my couch, etc. etc. How careful am I gonna have to be with this sucker?

I just upgraded to the Pantech Matix. I LOVE it. It has taken me 5 months to upgrade, I was looking for a phone that I really liked. I saw the Matrix and fell it love. It is easy to use, quick to send and receive text messages and just a fun phone. I need to learn how to hook it up to my computer and download songs but I am sure that will be easy too. I highly recommend it!!!
3/12 - 2008 at 21:06
I have problems with the matrix switching to landscape mode when I slide out for the qwerty. There seems to be some kind of malfunction that doesn’t swtich to landscape mode. Has anyone have this problem? The phone attracts oil too much, and the screen is easily scratched. I don’t like this phone anymore and I had it less than 1 month.

I was going to purchase the Pantech Matrix phone and the AT&T store didn’t have any, didn’t know when they would get any in. Wasn’t sure if they would have any before Christmas.

I’ve had the red martrix for 3 days. I just realized that the phone does not have an audible alert sound when you have received a voice mail. The only way you know you have missed a call is if you actually pick up the phone and press one of the buttons. Then it will reveal that you have a voicemail. I have called AT&T and they too could not find this function. I just sent an email to the Pantech company inquiring about this. I hope this is just operator error on my part. This is an important function for me, as I do not want to be a slave to this phone, having to check it frequently, just to see if I missed a call. My Razr would alert me, audibly, when I had a missed call. I have a young child, and would hate to miss one of his calls in an emergency!!!! It’s funny, the phone has an audible alarm when you receive a text message, and you can set the alert to ring once, every 2 minutes, etc. Why would they make such a phone without having an audible alert for missed calls?
12/12 - 2008 at 21:18
I’ve had this phone for a few weeks now and I really love it. It is very clear ~ you can hear really well. I left my phone charger at my parents house on a Saturday. I had charged it Friday evening. The battery lasted until Thursday afternoon. I couldn’t believe it lasted that long.
The only complaint I have is that the keys on the full keyboard are hard to see. I have the red phone and the keys are a clear/greyish color with the letters in a light purple. Some of the keys (the ones that have numbers on them also) have a red background with white lettering. Those keys with that color are much easier to read. It takes me awhile to text on the full keyboard too. I’m just not used to it. I type all day long, but to text with your thumbs, trying to remember where the keys are is a little confusing. I will keep trying though:)
The size of the text is easy to read also.
This is a great phone and I highly recommend it.
13/12 - 2008 at 6:51
i got it the second day it came out i love this phone
14/12 - 2008 at 4:09
I got this phone less than 3 weeks agao and i loved it until yesterday. The phone was working great until i went to send a text and all the sudden the qwerty keypad has no power once you slide it pasty the top row of keys so you can sent a message or use any of these buttons. I havent tried taking it to ATT yet since in away at school but i hope they fix it or replace it since i just got it on black friday!
17/12 - 2008 at 6:25
Warning!!!! Do not get the Pantech Matrix. I had mine for 2 weeks and I started haveing problems with it. Sometimes it would take forever before it would place the call aftrer hitting send. I also had problems playing videos. I Another problem was when you slide the phone open it would take 5-20 seconds for the sceen to turn on. The major problem with it is when you slide the phone open it wouldn’t flip the screen. Sometimes when you shut it and then open it again it would then flip. It started working fine. It kept doing that on an off. Then I couldn’t even use the key pad because it would shut it off when you slid it past the first row. I took it back to the store. They gave me a new one. 2 weeks later it happened again. I took it back to the store again. They gave me a new one. 1 week later it did it again. now I have to wait for another one to get to me in the mail because it has beeen longer then 30 days from the original purchase date. Every time I call custamer service they keep telling me that this is the first they have geard of any issues. I am now on my 4th one in 5 weeks. The phone is junk. Now I am stuck with it.
18/12 - 2008 at 23:24
I agree with Floydichuck, I have the same problem with the slide features. It does not change quickly to landscape mode and it takes a while for the screen to load.
18/12 - 2008 at 23:26
I want my money back, I bought this phone unlocked for $200+, I should have gotten the LG VU with that price. I just liked it cause it has a cool dual slide feature, but I didn’t know this phone will malfunction that often. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE. I think AT&T has pulled this phone off their shelves because of too many compliants.
20/12 - 2008 at 23:08
i want this phone so badly. but if it does not work like everyone says it doennt then i will return it.
21/12 - 2008 at 3:30

I have to decide on a phone tonight and i am having a tough time deciding between a pantech duo or a pantech matrix! If anyone has an opinion, post it on this website. I heard both good and bad things from both phones and i can’t decide. If i get the matrix then it will definately be the black and green one! SOOO…..please let me know which is better…….the DUO or the MATRIX!!!!
23/12 - 2008 at 20:53
I’m getting this phone for xmas and ive heard that the slider comes off a lot. I am just wondering if these ppl dropped it or something to cause this. Ive had a crappy nokia phone for about 5 months and am ready for a new one. I like this one because it’s a dual slider. btw… what is AT&T Bloat?
24/12 - 2008 at 1:22
I just got this phone and i love it. It’s very unique. I love the turn by turn navigation. Well i think this phone is really cool, but I’ve only had it a few days…..
24/12 - 2008 at 16:53
im goin top get the matrix tonight for chistmas im very excited. I.ve been looking at all the rating and what the phone can do. But it already won me over by the design
24/12 - 2008 at 21:48
Does the slider come off because people don’t treat it right? someone please answer me!!!
27/12 - 2008 at 4:02
i’ve been wanting this phone since it came out. i got it yesterday for christmas and was so excited! it worked fine and i loved the red. one of my favorite colors. then all of a sudden today the landscape wouldn’t come on. if you slid the keypad out really slowly it would work to the first set keys to the second but when it came to the top row it quit. it acted like it was completly shut. i was told to be very easy with this phone so i have tried going beyond myself being careful. i haven’t dropped this phone or anything. it also smudges very easily.
27/12 - 2008 at 8:35
This phone is terrible the day i got it the top part slid off and some off the buttons fell off too! I couldnt fix it and the people at the store laughed at me and said i couldnt return it!!! waste of money.
27/12 - 2008 at 22:56
Hey People, Got the Landscape problem figured out, That is I think I do, When dad got this phone , AT&T did not have the Pantech Holder, So they gave him a blackberry holder with a magnet that held the flap closed over the phone, OK, thought nothin about it myself untill me and dad exchanged the phone today for another, It was missed up when we got back to the car form AT&T store, Took it back intoo the store, My dad is good figuring things out, We was looking at other phones when he asked to see another Pantech, He ran the Phone holder over the back of the phone and guess what!, It missed up the Landdscape. Now we know what misses it up, Now the questions are how we go about fixing it ourselfs if this happens by mistake?
27/12 - 2008 at 23:37
I agree with steve , they are complete junk , my sixth one just broke again and im not getting another one !!!! Definately not a good buy, i’d rather have one of the giant phones from the 90’s at least they didn’t break as much!!
28/12 - 2008 at 21:04
I just got the Pantech Matrix (Blue) on Dec. 26th. I was a bit concerned about the screen going bad like many of the ones on the Rumor from Sprint did, as well as the sliders being flimsy. At the store, they had the model version to play with and it just felt like a poorly built phone, but after they allowed me to see and hold the real one, it felt really sturdy. Many people have claimed that the slider came off, but after feeling mine, I can not see how that would be possible. The phone feels incredibly sturdy which naturally makes me more clumsy. I’ve dropped it a few times already and instintively made the ‘Uh-Oh’ face. The highest drop was no more than a few feet onto carpetting, but I still was worried that he sreen would die or worse. The phone survived every drop without a single sign of damage. Even the screen, which is very easily smudged, came out completely unscratched. I was very impressed. I do agree that there is far too much AT&T bloat on there. Even in the phone book there are eight (8) numbers from AT&T. Some are useful, such as the one that tells you how many minutes you have left, but others just need to be deleted. Sadly, the delete option doesn’t work on those numbers. Once reading that the camera was only 1.3 m, I wasn’t expecting much of it. I was pleasently surprised at the quality of the picture. The camera takes the picture and seems to steady itself if you moved it while shooting. I also noticed that if I hold the camera long enough, it will focus in better on the object before I take the picture. I really am quite fond of this phone, it seems very sturdy and once you adjust to it, it’s very easy and convenient to use. I even found a special feature that I love in a phone. You can record a “voice memo” and set it as a ringtone! That will save me some money down the road. Haha. Eh, this is getting a bit lengthy now, just know that I would reccomend this phone to anyone, especially texters. hmmmm I’m not understanding the problems some of you have had?!?! Still no problems here and I love it still…..
Someone mentioned that it does not prompt you with a tone when you miss a call. It does prompt you, if a message was left.

The slider on top came right off after only two months. The phone still works but they will not replace it because the dot on the inside is pinkish. THIS IS A A SHAME BECAUSE ONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER. YOU SHOULD CHECK THE DOT BEFORE BUYING.
29/12 - 2008 at 18:29
The pinkish DOT inside indicates water damage, so they will not replace or let you return a phone like that… I’ve ran into that problem where I knew my phone had never touched water but yet the dot had still changed, and that’s all the proof they need to deny it…

This is a really great phone! Especially if you love texting. It’s reallyyyyyy easy to use! The only problem I’m having right now is that I can’t go to the music player. I have a 512mb sd card with a couple of cds on it. And when I go to the music player it restarts my phone. But if I take the sd card out I’m able to go to it just fine. Its not that bad because I can still access my music in ‘my stuff’ but when I play a song it doesn’t go to the next song automatically. With the music player-it does. It’s really weird and I’ve read multiple reviews that people are having the exact same problem. Let me know if you are able to get this problem fixed. -americangirl81992@yahoo.com

Got this phone Dec 4th. It is a cute phone, and I love the qwerty keyboard, and also like being able to just use it as a phone (what a concept), and dial on the larger numbers. However the sound quality is not good, and I get complaints from everyone that I sound muffled. The speaker phone sucks, period. And the camera is not great either, the lighting is always off, and the pics come out pretty bad. I am going to take it back today, and don’t know what to get. I have really enjoyed the keyboard, and use it to communicate with my teen throughout the day….it’s so much easier to type on than a regular phone with t9, or whatever. But I am afraid to get an even smaller keyboard, with tiny numbers on it. After all, it’s a phone, not a computer for me. I am thinking maybe a Palm Centro? Again…teeny tiny numbers though.
My daughter had trouble with her Matrix, and took it back yesterday, and traded it for a Samsung Propel. She likes it better, the sound quality is much better, and she likes the lock options and options for personalizing the phone better than the Matrix. Tiny numbers though, and the keyboard is smaller, if that’s possible.

I went to the at&t store about a week ago and i had decided to get the pantech duo. i was with my mom when i went to the store and she didnt want to wait to talk to the guy that she is used to talking to so we left and went back today. When the guy asked me what kind of phone i was looking at i told him the duo and he straight up told me it was crap. he said that out of 50 they sold 47 of them were returned. i asked him about the matrix and he said its a little to early to tell about if people like them but he said they have had very little returns. So i had decided to get the matrix instead. They were out of stack and said that they wouldnt know when they would get more. He sugested to get online and order one. But when i started looking at reviews for the matrix they are very mixed. alot of people are saying that there slidy things fell off but i dont see how. even the one in the store that gets slid both weays dozens of times a day was very sturdy.

i agree with casey… I dont see how the slider can come off. I dont have it yet because of one problem that Att made. Ok so my mom and dad had phones but they got new ones about 5 months ago… so they got new phones and had the same #s but they gave teir two old phones to me and my brother… and we got numbers because they were our first phones. a week ago i wanted a new one for xmas cuz i didnt like my current one. when we went to the store they said that i had to wait about a year and a half cuz my contract wasnt done yet. My dad said that it was messed up cuz we had the phone for 4 years… Its a cingular phone!!! since we used excisting equiptment we should be able to upgrade my phone… so back in May, Att screwed up my contract. Last sunday before xmas they said they would fix the contract so i would get it in a couple days… Its been 10 days and the contract still isnt fixed. my dad has tried everything to fix it… hes called so many ppl and they havnt fixed it yet… I dont even know when i will get the phone.

I just got the red matrix yesterday, but once when I turned it off last night it acted really wierd. I turned it back off and moved the sim card barley forward then decided against taking it out. So I slid it back and turned my phone back on. Now it says invalid card! What should I do? My father tried to fix it by taking out the card and looking at it. It’s fully charged, and whenever it says invalid card it also has has the option of emergency numbers. Please help!

I do NOT recommend this phone to any teenagers who do a lot of texting. I bought this phone for my son for Christmas. On New Year’s Day one side of the slider broke off. Now it just hangs there. He did not abuse the phone at all. He had it for 7 days. Since I bought the phone in November, AT&T was not able/willing to replace it.
The warranty dept was not willing to work with me at first since it’s considered ‘physical’ damage. It is RIDICULOUS for a phone with moving parts to not be considered under warranty. The fact that it only lasted 7 DAYS must have worked to my favor because I was able to talk the warranty dept. into sending me a refurbished one afterall. In the meantime, I upgraded my own phone and will switch with my son. Since I do not text hardly at all, I expect it will last longer for me.
I think the quality is BAD and I do not recommend this phone. I’m sorry I got any phone with moving parts. The Pantech Matrix is a piece of junk, in my opinion.

Casey,
Believe me, the slider can and will break off. Once it breaks off (like my son’s did) you’d see it’s held by the very tiniest of screws and plastic.
When you see that comment more than once, believe me….it’s a problem.
