I am trying to decide on getting either this camera or the FLIP camera. i like the fact that this camera takes SC cards that will allow me more time to shoot but from all these comments, it seems useless to have more memory if there's not enough power to last. I wondered if once the juice is gone that's when the stored videos and pics are also gone. My son just needs it to shoot his skate tricks but 8 minutes is just not long enough. Good thing is I can but it from MicroCenter for $69. We can always return it if it sucks and get a FLIP instead.

I like this camera... DXG569V...it does exactly what I want
BUT IT HAS ONE BIG FLAW
the batteries die after about 7 minutes...this is stupid and how could someone design a
camera that does that???
I called the company and they said I should get at least an hour's worth of video on a
battery charge
I spent money for new batteries but the they die after 7 or so minutes
VERY DISAPPOINTED
..going to have to take back to MicroCenter
again..WHY WOULD SOMEONE DESIGN SOMETHING THAT ONLY WORKS 8 MINUTES OR SO?
IS THERE ANOTHER KIND OF BATTERY I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT WILL LAST LONGER?

I just purchased this camera for my son and paid $59.95 plus tax. I hope he enjoys it and doesn't have the problems that some people have had with it. I didn't want to spend a lot so this really fit the bill.

I purchased this device from ECost 01/06/09. I've thoroughly read the latest download version manual and became very familiar with its various buttons, switches and functions. My expectations were based on published technical and personal reviews and the total cost of the device (about $78 USD including an 8GB SDHC and shipping).
From "Day One" it has not been able to store photos or videos to the inserted SDHC memory cards from three reputable manufacturers. I've sent an e-mail requesting help on the issue from DXG USA. I'll see how they respond. The included software package installed properly and functions for the most part as advertised.
The device has some minor, but manageable quirks which other users have previously listed.
Given the severe limitation imposed on the device's overall functionality due to issue with not recognizing, storing, and possibly reading from formatted and unprotected SDHC cards; I could not recommend this device with clear conscience. Look at the offerings from other manufacturers in the same price/function category, especially at this time of year. The recent large price drops on this specific device have occurred for a reason. Exercise some caution and financial prudence before purchasing this device.

Sounds like a great little camera for its price point! I am always looking for a good little camera to give to my wife and let her play with the dogs, this may be the idea!

I bought the camera at Radio Shack Dec. 08. I used it so little that I never filled up the 8 Gig card I bought with it. The record start/stop button began to be difficult to get to start and stop. Then the power button began to be difficult to get to turn on or off. Finally it will not power on at all, so it is a paper weight after less than 8 Gigs of video. Another complaint is regarding the battery charger. It uses 3 batteries, but the charger will only charge 2 or 4 at a time, so you have to "cook" one battery, to get the other 3 charged or buy another pack. Charging even numbers and using odd numbers is cumbersome. I am one of those people who bought on price only, and regret it. I will buy a Japanese camera next time. It would have been cheaper in the long run, and saved a lot of frustration. I also missed capturing my daughter's dance recital due to it's failure. I missed her leading part in a play the first time I used it because I didn't realize how fast it would burn up the batteries. Lots of disappointments and bad memories with this camera, just the opposite of why I bought it.

I just got the camera today and love it so far. The size and weight great for travel. I got mine for $71 eh not as good as the last guy but close. The person at Radio shack tried selling me batteries and a case for it, luckily being on a tight budget i declined, and to my surprise it came with batteries a charger and a case a good surprise.

Thank you Ivette. I agree with your comments. I have not yet purchased this camera and I am trying to see what those who have purchased it think of it. Having said that, I would just like to share that I am not the least bit interested in someone's opinion comparing Japanese products to Chinese products. If you have "gripes", please share them as they may help others make a decision on purchasing this product. I am not cheap at all but I am purchasing this product for a young teenager and dont want to invest a large sum of money in a camcorder/camera until I know that such a purchase will be maturely and responsibly handled and cared for. I did find the sample video and still photo samples above to be very helpful. Everyone knows that even the "big name" products are all manufactured in a handful of plants and many along side these "cheap" versions. I believe for the money, this will be a great camcorder for my teen to start with.

I am falling victim to something I HATE! Why in a product review do people slam other people's choices, or personal situation, or financial status etc? Just review the product. Why spend paragraphs complaining about "cheap" people (who could very well be people who want videos of thier family but don't have a lot of money or don't want to go in debt for a camera?), and how Chinese cameras suck and Japanese are all perfect - but not want to bore anyone with your list of gripes about the camera that you are suppose to be reviewing? People looking at the reviews want to know about the Camera and how it works, good points and bad points.

I've had it for 6 months and it works very well. You have to practice and learn to use all video modes to get the best quality. If you use one video mode to photo a flower it will be blurry no matter what but change modes and it is perfect. If you hold down the button too long when taking a picture, you get a blurry or double vision effect. The light works well, but it needs more zoom (but yes, it's cheap so you can't expect a higher zoom). Twice, I have lost everything on the SD ard, and I don't know why. Turned it on a few days ago and took some pictures, there were months of photos on there. PLugged it in to dum p on the ocmputer today and it's all gone. This happened the first day I had it while I was practicing with it also, so dump your pictures frequently. This does not happen on any of my former camera with tapes and does not seem to happen with disc camera - only hard drives and SD cards. But since it just happened again after 6 months it doesn't seem to be a common problem. It is a decent camera with decent quality but, yes it could be better and might be better If I bought a more expensive camera. I only say Might because I have had many DVD recorders and the more expensive ones have died years before the cheap ones which keep going strong. High end tech companies know for great dvd recorders like Panasonic - actually have terrible dvd recorders if you try other brands, you find out how much better they are - you can't just trust a name all the time, sometimes there's a real gem in a cheaper brand and sometimes the high end brands get away with poor servie, features that don't work etc, because of the name. Sometimes you absolutely get what you pay for. It's not absolute.

I'm glad that for the money, it is as good as it turned out to be. It was a terrific gift and once I learned how to use the modes and what is best for what kind of picture or video, it's been great.

LOL. check the two people before me. There is a video sample and the people who buy cheap products are not cheap, if they were cheap they would be writing dumb messages like you. get a life. I think it is good when companies make products that the average person can afford if the person does not want to waste money on an item that is an additional $400 more just for its name. People that buy a product for its name have their reasons to do so, but if you dont buy a product for its name or you are not a brand loyal person then why not try new items and suppliers.

How come no one actually showed it working? I never saw anyone install the batteries so I guess the video quality is so poor they didn't want to spoil the fun. Nice try people. Next time lets see if you can get your act together and actually show us the camera in action.

well i cant really recommend any of my friends to buy th 569-Vcam. It is just not worth your time (my time anyway) like most of their cams. I have tried their products before and they just seem to make the same mistakes over and over again. i don't have the time to tell you the list of gripes, but If you don't believe me, call them up and speak to them. I doubt you will be impressed with their camera knowledge (or anything for that matter). But you might get some gearhead who can speak some English. That said, some people will always be attracted to low prices, and of course you are cheap and you like dealing with jerks, maybe this camera is for you. Buyer beware! You get what you pay for! But if you are smart and like a good value, there are lots of great cams out there, just purchase a Japanese camera instead. any Japanese camera. It is easy, nearly any Japanese product will be better than the Chinese. The latest Canon is getting great reviews, check them out instead. Again, unless you are one of those rare people who buys only on price, and not reputation and quality. Trust me, these guys won't be making cameras with the costlier components (better lenses, good sensors) and with good engineering, because they are interested in low-cost manufacturing and they likely would not spend on better parts if even they could get them! I just found out this company used to make cheap watches, now they make cheap cams, and so it is in the blood i guess. If you are still interested take a look at their web site--ugh! especially the taiwan one at dxgtech.com. which says they are trying to become a world class manufacturer...well ha ha maybe wh knows if they move here to mississippi we could show them how to do it right.
