The new Jawbone Bluetooth headset from Aliph is just an excellent product overall, it’s very popular because of its ease of use, comfort and great call quality, but the one thing I didn’t like about it was the fact that you essentially had to use the ear loop, at least I did and most everyone I know does as well. This isn’t that big of a deal for most people, even though it’s very comfortable I personally just don’t care for having that loop over my ear. Two of the other headsets that I own either do not have the ear loop or it’s an optional thing, so I kind of prefer one of them to the Jawbone at times.

Now how do you make an already great product like the Jawbone2 even better? You come out with a new set of earbuds for it that allows you the ability to not use the ear loop at all. In my time with the New Fit Earbuds I’ve come to love them, they make the Jawbone2 an even better product, much more comfortable to the point you don’t even realize you are wearing it. There were points during the day when I first started using the new earbuds that I actually had to check to see if I was still in my ear as that’s just how comfortable the jawbone is now.

One thing to note though is that the New Fit Earbuds are a beta product and not yet available for purchase, but when they do come on the market I highly suggest you grab them.

So was there anything good under your tree this year? Hopefully, Santa brought you what you wanted. If you happened to get a Zune under your tree this year, the product I’ve got for review today is one that you must check out.

Today for review I’ve got an excellent case for the Zune 80GB or 120GB MP3 player from a company called Speck Products. We, or our friends spend quite a bit of money on these electronic gadgets so why not protect them from accidents, no one wants to drop their nice new toy and have it break. There are all kinds of cases on the market today, and my one gripe with most of them is that they do not come with screen protectors, the one I have for review today does though, and to top it off it will offer quite a bit of good protection for your Zune from accidental bumps or even a fall.

So continue on to check out a great product from Speck…

With its large touch screen, keeping the iPhone out of harms way is sometimes easier said than done. There is a fine line between keeping the aesthetic of the iPhone and providing protection. Today we will look at a product that attempts to do both; the Dual Skin Silicone Case (Apple iPhone 3G) which is made by Proporta, a British based company specializing in gadget accessories for the past twelve years.

The name of the case pretty much describes the product, as it is a two layer silicon case for the latest version of the Apple iPhone. Lets take a closer look at the Dual Skin Silicone Case (Apple iPhone 3G).

When shopping for a phone there are times that it’s fairly hard to just find a basic phone, they’ve all got several features and for the non-tech savvy person they can be intimidating. Even the most basic phones out there today seem to be trying to cram as many features into them as possible, a few things have become a standard on even the most basic phone, a camera, web browsing of some kind, Bluetooth and some sort of GPS navigation. It truly is hard to find just a very basic phone for someone who wants to just make phone calls, yes believe it or not there are people out there who don’t care for all of the extras and just want a phone to makes phone calls with.

Pantech has recently introduced a very affordable basic phone, it retails for only $130 without contract or no commitment pricing, and $40 with a two year contract with AT&T, it seems it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the phone without contract right? Anyway the Pantech C630 is a basic phone that does have some great features, but it doesn’t really focus on them, it’s primary focus is to be a phone, not a mini-computer, or a text messaging device, but just a phone to make and receive calls. The C630 does have Bluetooth, MP3 player, camera, GPS Navigation and more, but it’s a phone first and foremost, and a very good one at that. It’s form factor is the candy bar style, it’s slim, lightweight and overall very well made, it feels solid and sturdy in your hands and it’s easy to use.

In my time with the C630 I’ve grown quite attached to it, I like it very much, it’s basic, and it gets the job done. My main phone is an AT&T Tilt, which is like having a small computer in the palm of your hands, at times that’s just a bit much and I don’t need all of those features at all times, I’m happy with making and receiving calls and having Bluetooth for my hands free headset, a lot of times that’s all I need really. The Pantech c630 is a great basic phone that does offer some great features if you need them, but what it does best is make calls, and that’s what I think phones should be focused on, after all that’s their primary function. If you’re looking for a nice basic phone, that’s inexpensive and works great then look no further than the Pantech C630, so continue on to learn more about a great little phone…

GamePlay11

Historically video games based on movies come up short when compared to the source material. Generally a publisher will try to cash in on the popularity of a film by quickly releasing a subpar game at the same time as the film is playing in theatres. These games are easy to spot as they have shoddy graphics, horrible voice acting, poor game design and/or frustrating game controls. Especially notorious for these poor interpretations are the kid movie inspired titles.

Every once in a while, there is a license based title that exceeds expectations. Unfortunately, Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors falls somewhere between these two points. It is not a bad game, but there is nothing ground breaking in this Wii title. In fact, it seems to be a port of the PS2 version with the Wii control scheme. This is not a criticism of the title, but just a description of fact.

DSCF1770

So, I’ve amassed a nice collection of USB drives and I’ve reviewed most all of them at one time or another but I’ve never compared them all to each to to find out which one is really the best overall.

Taking stock I’ve got 21 of them that are over 1gig going up to 64gb, and I’ve got others that are below one gig that just hang around in my drawer as they are sort of useless at this point in time. I’ve had more, but I’ve given them away as who really needs all of those drives, but I’ve stopped giving them away as I wanted to compare them altogether to see which is the best, and I figured that the end of the year would be the perfect time to do it.

So I’ve got 21 USB drives ranging from 1gig to 64gigs in capacity from companies like Super Talent, OCZ, Patriot, Swiss Memory, Corsair, ATP and a few others throw in for good measure. I’m only testing 1+ gig drives as I feel that below that they’re rather useless at this point in time.

I’ve been testing these drives for quite some time to create a comparison chart to see which is the best, I was doing this for an article, but also to satisfy my own curiosity as well to see just which one is the best.

So read on to see which drive is the best of the best in terms of performance in both read and write testing.

One of the most popular gifts this year and last year is the Digital Photo Frame, they’ve come down in price quite a bit since last year, and they’re becoming more and more feature packed. They’re a great way to show off your pictures instead of leaving them in digital format, and they make great gifts.

A little bit ago I took a look at the Photolink Scanner from Pandigital, today I’ve got an 8" LCD Digital Photo Frame from them. The frame is very nice, the LCD is crisp and clear and it’s got some great features like a built in card reader, remote control and the ability to not only show your pictures but play videos and music as well.

iPod and other types of music docks are popular products, but the ones that I think are the best are the wireless ones, the kind that allow you to plug in your iPod, Zune or whatever into the dock and send you music elsewhere. One problem with these docks is that they’re usually big and not very portable and a lot of them are device specific, so you’re stuck with using them with only one of your devices no matter how many others you have.

A company called Aerielle has come up with a very useful product called the i2i Stream. The device allows you to stream virtually any audio source you have, as long as it has a 3.5mm jack on it, then again you can just get an adapter and you can stream everything really. You must have two of the i2i devices for it too work, one to send and one to receive, but you can add other i2i devices to the setup to stream to many destinations from only one source. The range  on these is decent, they get the rated 30 feet with no problem and they’re very easy to use.

Are you ready to rock?! Music games have become wildly popular, and I can understand why, they’re just a ton of fun, and allow people to get together and enjoy music and games. If you’ve paid attention to my reviews then you’ll know I love music, and I love playing games, combining the two gives me a chance to really enjoy myself, let my hair down and relive my errant, head banging youth, which some part of me still hasn’t grown out of…

The Guitar Hero series is wildly successful, and with good reason, it’s tons of fun and it’s got some great music to go with it. Today I’ve got Guitar Hero World Tour for review, it’s the latest edition to the series of games from Activision and Red Octane. My initial impressions of GH-WT were those of excitement, and immense enjoyment, I even went and got Metallica Death Magnetic from the GH store, but those initial reactions soon turned to those of frustration and anger, after only about eight hours of play the guitar was broke…

If you read our Worst of 2008 list, then you’d know that GH-WT made it to that list, or at least the hardware did, the game is great and lots of fun, but the hardware, frankly, sucks! I’ve read many, many stories of people with the same problem as myself, including one guy who returned his kit 17 times, that’s just stupid and ridiculous for such a problem to exist on a game series that has been around for some time now and is so popular….

Anyway, I’ve got a bunch of videos and screenshots for you inside, so read on…
