Summary: I purchased this blender because I wanted a good blender and had read good things about Waring blenders. Maybe Waring makes a good product but this isn't it. This blender is no better than the Hamilton Beach that I was replacing. It will not blend frozen fruit and leaves chunks of ice in a smoothie. The carafe is listed as glass but the bottom is made of plastic.
Summary: Waring's design goes back to the 30s, not much improvements to be made there. Thicker blends will still require some prodding with a spatula in order to get the full spin going. If you're planning on making lots of hummus or other thicker foods, you'll need a regular food processor.
Summary: After reading all the reviews about this product. I decided to buy it. I am very pleased, it is more of a commercial unit rather than a home unit. Most of the negative reviews were from people that are not familiar with blenders or the fact you have to break them in and not run them wide open right out of the box.
Summary: I bought this because my Oster was on it's last leg. I like the deign of the blender, but I was unhappy to find the glass was chipped out on the bottom, which causes it to leak. This information was not provided in the description of the item.
Summary: Everything on this blender seems rugged and durable... except the base of the flask. That is a very cheap and flimsy thermoplastic base which in our case both feels cheap and is not strong enough to properly hold the unit in place securely.
If your looking for a blender to purchase, you'll not be disappointed!

Summary: Great blender to have...Will not buy or use another! Received one about eight years ago for a gift. Unfortunetly I broke it, and had to get another one. I knew I wanted the same blender. I use it about 8-10 times a week. I think this is the best blender you can buy.
