Excerpt: I can only give the Rival 5-Speed Blender a 7 out of 10. It does good when trying to make a milkshake or something very simple, but other than that don't try to use it for more complex things.
Excerpt: I bought this while looking for a cheap blender. I don't use my blender often, so I really saw no reason to splurge on an expensive one. I just wanted something that would make basic smoothies.
Excerpt: Purchased this blender for about $12 at Walmart. I was a little skeptical cause it was so cheap, but saw the Rival name and figured it would be fine...WRONG! Was only used about 5 times before it caught a night flight to the dumpster. The good points are as follows: Blends adequately and has the pulse feature. Breaks down and goes together easily and the parts are dishwasher safe (top rack).
Excerpt: I have recently used this blender to make soup for my family and it works quickly. Unfortunately, it blends really loud, so it is hard to hear anybody else. I chopped up purple onions, red, yellow, and green bell peppers, and I place them in a bowl and I blend them in groups of four (because everything cannot fit inside of the blender). I then add water after pouring the ingredients into the blender.
Excerpt: This thing is awful! It's loud, it gets stuck on almost anything I put in it including fruit for a smoothie! It can handle about a handful at a time, otherwise everything on the bottom near the blade gets pulverized and then top ingredients stay how they were. When trying to push the top stuff down is when something would get stuck. Honestly, this thing is a piece of crap.
Excerpt: It may be cheap but not worth the waste of money. Invest in a better one that cost more than $15.00. Doesn't fulfill protein shake needs in our family. Most things I want to make require me to hand chop and puree. Buy a Magic Bullet instead!!
Excerpt: This is a great blender in terms of efficiency, speed. It just work great! There are couple of functions like liquify . I generally use this function for spinach. It works better then any professional blender.
Excerpt: The Rival blender I bought had big shoes to fill, I suppose. I received a nice mid-grade Oster as a wedding gift many moons ago and it worked well until just this summer when a gear slipped. I have a food processor and a mini food chopper so my blender is not used that regularly, but when it is, I want it to work. Here's my list of issues with the Rival:
Why buy the $40 blender when you can have this one?

Excerpt: The two things you're supposed to get duplicates of at your wedding are blenders and toasters. Six ago, when my husband and I got married, I was shocked to find we'd received neither. It was a long wait, but I finally purchased my first blender three days ago. It was of course, this Rival blender.
