Polycarbonate jar breaks down - don't buy

S Smith, Amazon
16 December 2014
  • Summary: I'd give no stars as within 4-5 months the polycarbonate jar began to discolor and peel on the inside. The vendor would not replace and Kitchenaid told me that is an old model that is no longer sold. I figure that's why it's here. I use it to make morning shakes with normal foods like milk, banana, strawberries and spinach so there's nothing that would have broken down the material.

  • Summary: The product quality over at KitchenAid has unfortunately gone DOWN over the past few years. We used to buy these all the time as they were built tough and would last 2-3 years easily. This morning the blades broke off turning fruit. It's so cheaply made now I *highly* recommend buying something else. KitchenAid should be ashamed for the crap they are putting out nowadays.

Do NOT buy this blender - will start to leak if bolt comes loose

Heidi Marineau "Heidi M", Amazon
6 September 2014
  • Summary: This blender was fine for awhile. But the reason I am giving this one star is due to the constant leaking problems that occurred after blending smoothies. The bolt underneath the jar comes loose after blending and unless you lift it off the base and tighten it, whatever you pour into the jar will just leak out the bottom.

This is the second one where the coupling breaks. I am almost wondering if the company design them to break on purpose.

Piece of crap, do NOT buy this

M. Persic, Amazon
29 July 2014
  • Summary: Why do they have to make the connecting parts from motor to blender jar/blades out of cheapo PLASTIC?? (Everything else is built pretty darn well). Blending creates friction on these parts and they will melt eventually. My jar didn't come off the base one day, as it had melted all the teeth and fused the parts together. It only took about 30-40 uses for this to happen. Kitchen Aide, if you're reading, I would gladly pay $20-30 extra for just.. two... metal... parts...

Easy Cleaning

Kelly, Amazon
27 July 2014
  • Summary: I bought this a few months ago and so far it has worked well for me. I mostly make smoothies with it out of frozen fruit, yogurt and juice. I've not once had a problem. I also like the easy cleaning. After I make my smoothie, I just rinse it, add a bit of dish soap and warm water then stick it back on the base and blend the mixture for about a minute. Just rinse and you’re ready to go for the next smoothie.
