Nifty Little Blender
Summary: I've only had it a few days and only used it twice thus far, but it does everything I'd expect it to. It's not any louder than I would expect it to be. It is a blender. It is made of real metal and looks great on my kitchen counter. My smoothies have been completely smooth and not chunky. The lid won't allow you to add anything larger than berries or nuts while blending but that's a not a big deal to me. Seems well made.
Summary: I have not had a blender is a very long time. grew up when blender drinks were popular and really wanted one for health drinks without spending a hundred . I read the reviews of several blenders and really appreciate reviews. It is a great system . this blender is easy to use, not too noisy, great tight, secure lid and not so hard to clean. and the price is great. highly recommend for blender drinks, lite dicing as in fruit for the smoothie.
Summary: It had great reviews, and it works, but you have to stop and use something to push the solids to the bottom as it needs help. I had not used it for a long time and then decided to use it. I did not properly seat the glass assembly onto the base and the almond milk spilled into the inner workings of the thing. It made quite a mess. I carefully took apart the base and dabbed up the milk with paper towels and thoroughly dried it all out. Hopefully it will still work.
Summary: I'm very happy with this blender. I use it mainly to make smoothies, and it does a very nice job. The lid is very tight, but if you use the pour spout, you want the lid to be tight so it doesn't fall off when you're pouring. I think it's a good deal.
Beware of how you detach the pitcher from the base
24 February 2014
Summary: I haven't had a new blender in quite a while but the way I used to detach mine from the base was to hold the pitcher handle and twist and lift it off. When I used this Hamilton Beach one for the first time I did the same move instinctively, unfortunately forgetting that this attaches differently, and when I twisted and lifted the pitcher it detached the pitcher from the black part that fits on the base, which caused all my liquid to pour out the bottom all over the base.
Summary: i used it once and it started to smoke. i sent it back and got a refund. i guess you either spend $20 and get something that may or may not last or you spend $500 and have something made for a professional kitchen, there doesn't seem to be any inbetween with blenders. bummer.
