Summary: The blending mechanism for this appliance is downright shoddy. I've replaced it four times, over 6 to 9 month intervals, because it begins to tighten to the point of nearly being frozen. It's happening again now, and I'm really considering simply tossing it out. This defect will ultimately cause the engine inside the appliance to burn up. I had hoped for durability with this blender, so this is very disappointing.
Summary: I bought this blender to replace my Oyster one that started to leaks after 4 years of use. I always pick glass blenders because I like to prepare warm vegetable soups with it. This blender is powerful enough to blend big chunks of veggies and mix herbs, it does not leak and I don't need to stand next to it when I run it. Plus it has a nice look.
Summary: We owned an earlier version of this blender. The body was actually made of metal and lasted a little over 3 years. We loved its look and it was quite easy to clean. We use a blender, mostly, to make smoothies. This newer model's motor base is plastic. We bought it 6/15/12 and, as of today, 1/24/14 the motor is overheating. I am really disapointed as it is a great looking blender. However, I feel the cost is too high for the amount of time it actually worked.
Summary: I use a blender for making dips and salad dressings. Most of my base ingredients are cheeses which can and have burned up several blender motors. This unit is very powerful and there has not been a hint of a hot motor on any of my creations as yet. With it's simple controls it is preventing me from destroying it. Who needs ten plus power selections like on most blenders. We all have smelled burning motor coils on products like this one.
Summary: I was just about to give in and purchase a $200 smoothie blender when I ran across this one. My old $65 blender left chunks in my smoothies even though I had to stick a knife in and stir while it was mixing. For the money I've never had a blender as good as this Cuisinart 600. Crushes ice and blends smoothies as if it were mixing water! There is a catch. It will not blend a small amount of frozen fruit alone or with yogurt. Even with a little juice.
Summary: I almost rated this two stars because when it works, its great. Does a great job making smoothies, does a great job crushing ice and it handles frozen fruit very well. Don't expect it to last long, however. Our first one stopped working after six months - the plastic piece that turns the blade became too worn. We decided to try again and purchased a second one this past February - the motor has stopped working after just two months of use. Very disappointed.

Summary: Cuisinart SPB-600 SmartPower Deluxe Die Cast Blender, Stainless (Kitchen) DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BLENDER!! The motor burns out within a few weeks just making a simple smoothie. You have to pay Cuisinart $10 to even look at it plus the cost of shipping the blender to them in Arizona. The Cuisinart immediately become aggressive when you call them and try and make you feel like you're dishonest. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BLENDER BECAUSE THE MOTOR WILL BURN OUT WITHIN A FEW USES!!
