There's a lot I like about this blender. But there are two major design flaws.

Even when you only fill it 1/3 full, this blender will end up splattering hot soup across you and your kitchen. I've got the burn marks to prove. The blender does not offer any low speed settings and does not gradually come up to speed. Instead it is instantly at full power. After twice burning myself, I've simply stopped using this blender for soup. It requires so many small batches to make it simply pointless. A better design would either include a lower speed setting or would graduate the speed to prevent soup explosions.

This appliance uses 17 watts of power when it's turned off! That's far more than any other kitchen appliance I've ever seen. Given that it's also a heavy appliance and bulky to store, it's very tempting to leave it plugged in. But that's a lot of power to waste for nothing. There's no reason that this blender should use any power at all when turned off. A better design would use no power when turned off.

    • Very powerful, Smoothie mode is handy
    • Dangerous for soup, Uses power when turned of
