Summary: First of all I have to say that the rating below here is meaningless as it has nothing to do with the blender itself, but rather with the customer service of the seller. Amazon should add two review options to avoid these situations. So to the blender - I have tried numerous blenders and I have been looking for a good one or the last 1,5 years.
Pick your vendors carefully and be sure to read the fine print...

Summary: Some of the blenders make it obvious they are not for use in the USA but some of them list it in the fine print. This blender looks exactly like the blender I loved and was looking to replace. Not only was the company not very helpful but they refused to let me return the item. Not only did Gandhi refuse to let me return the blender but they rubbed my face in the fact that it was not their problem that I didn't read the description.
Summary: I've had mine for years and during all that time, it's worked great - never a problem until just recently the plastic drive coupling broke. I replaced it for about $20 and voila; I have my favorite blender back. I would recommend this product. Braun products rule!
Summary: I agree with the reviewer about the cheesy plastic drive coupling. Mine broke so I bought an extra one. The blender then worked for about a month and now the motor works but the blade does not turn. It was great while it lasted and based on this, Braun is no longer my favorite appliance maker.
Summary: These blenders have a cheesy fragile plastic drive coupling which starts to shred after several uses, the shredding continues until no remaining mechanical link is left. To make matters worse, the motor starts to make noise and smell after a few months of use. Save your Money!
Summary: This blender works very well. I make smoothies at least 3 times a week and if you put the wet ingredients in first, then the frozen, the smoothies come out blended very nicely. Yes, it's powerful, BUT, it is absolutely true that the teeth on the blade break off. I've had this blender for about 18 months and I am now on my third replacement blade. At about $15 a pop, this blender is becoming exceedingly expensive.
Summary: I don't know who to be more disappointed in. Consumer Reports for placing this on their short list of best blenders or Braun for making plastic gears which have broken on a very nice product after only 4 months. As other have stated, I will not be purchasing Braun appliances in the future and will cancel my membership to this leading consumer research org.
