Summary: Please read update below; it is a game-changer: My honeymoon ended with this blender after 2 years, which up to this point my review would have been as glowing as the other 5 star reveiws. My suggestion is not to believe any review from someone who has not owned and used this mixer everyday for 2 years (which I have done). Bottom line: in 12 years this will cost you $300 more than the price you are paying. Here is why...
Summary: After doing some research, I decided to buy the Blendtec blender. Little did I know how incredibly loud this machine is. And after the fact, I learned that Vitamix has come out with a blender that is 40% quieter than their previous blenders. So if noise is a determining factor for you, then buy the Vitamix. Also upsetting is the fact that Galorco would not take the product back without a 40% restocking fee (unheard of!).
UPDATE: Jar Design Flaw? Rubber dust & bits in smoothies?

Summary: Here's a video comparison review of the BlendTec vs models across 2 other price ranges from you tube: watch?v=SYGwhX8JlzU The BlendTec uses metal couplings for both the base and the jar. It uses a 2 blade design that's dull on one side and slightly sharp on the other. Its sharpness is somewhere between a paring knife and a butter knife. It uses a polycarbonate jar, the same jar used at Jamba Juice and Starbuck's. Starbuck's uses this same model.
Summary: i was waiting to see the durability before doing a review. i had it for one month, used about 150 times. The container was scratched, and the blade kept jamming. It would jam with ice, with milk and cornstarch (to make puddings) and when i tried to do hummus which is a mixture of chickpeas and spices..it started smoking did a overheating alert and stopped.
Summary: I recently purchased a Bendtec to replace a Cuisinart for our vacation home. We have a Vitamix in our primary home. I saw this machine (Blendtec) demonstrated at Costco and was told it out-performs the Vitamix. Since we use our machines daily for smoothies, I decided to order one. I am disappointed. I make smoothies out of frozen fruit, yogurt, protein powder, and a little milk.
Summary: BLENDTEC BLENDERS have intrigued me for years. Ever since I saw that first commercial, "A Man And His Blender", and saw the brick pulverized before my very eyes, I figured....THIS MUST be a POWERFUL blender! I had wanted one for years and years....and finally decided to put my money where my dreams have been, and buy one......... AS i NOTICED THAT BLENDTEC was being demomstrated at a local warehouse store, I decided to see the demonstration first, before I bought it.
Summary: I ordered this blender and then returned it. Replaced it with a Vitamix 5200, which I am very happy with. I should state up front, that the reasons I didn't like this blender are not reasons that will bother others. There are obviously people who love their Blendtecs and aren't at all bothered by the things I mention here. None the less, here are the two things that caused me to return mine.
