Vanguard Spirit ED 8x36 Binocular

Thomas, binocularreviews.org
13 May 2013
  • Excerpt: Terrific! My wife and I already owned the big brothers of this binocular, the Vanguard Endeavor ED , and were really happy with the optics.  I wanted my own binocular, however (as my prescription is different), and decided to go with a smaller, lighter pair.

  • Excerpt: I use this product while still hunting deer with my longbow. The are so sharp with unbelievable clearaty.I am very impressed with their sharpness even in low light conditions. Not a major complaint but a lock on the focus would be a nice feature.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof

Great Binocular Good Deal

Eyes wide open, opticsplanet.com
13 March 2013
  • Summary: In my opinion this binoc is one of the best compared to the others economy wise. Lightweight, lids properly connected hard to lose it. Easy to use.
  • Pros: Clear, easy to focus, comes already with bag and straps.
  • Cons: None

Excellent

Observer, B&H Photo
8 February 2013
  • Excerpt: The quality is excellent for the price. The image clarity and the build quality is as good as other models costing much more money. They are light weight and and easy to carry. The field of view could be a little wider, but considering the price and quality, these are an excellent value.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction

Excellent quality

7 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I own many different binoculars and telescopes, including some rather expensive models. The Spirit 8x36 ED is very portable and the quality is excellent. They are as good as some of my Steiners at a fraction of the cost.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses

disappointed

  • Excerpt: Perfect size and handling, but optical quality may be accepted probably for the [$]price range.ED here means Extreme Distortion. Chromatic aberrations are awful even in the center of the field. Focus is OK, while depth of the field is pretty narrow. Center part of the picture is fine, but about 1/3 at the edges is blurry. I found that right part of binos is much worse than the left one. Made in China, BTW.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Strong Construction, Waterproof
  • Cons: Picture Quality

Excellent Optics, Outstanding Value

LDG in SC, B&H Photo
1 October 2012
  • Excerpt: This binocular provides excellent image quality in a smaller lighter package. It is an undiscovered gem. It comes with a nice case and comfortable well made stap. The 7 degree viewing angle provides for excellent field of view for a small binocular--better than many larger 42mm binoculars. The center focus wheel may take some practice since it is very aggressive--quick. It's not an issue for me. It works well with glasses.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Great Value, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof, Works Well With Glasses

Great Optics

outdoorgirl71, opticsplanet.com
8 July 2012
  • Summary: I bought these binos based on reviews I had read online and they are great. They work great on the many cloudy days here in the pacific northwest. They are a reasonable weight and are very clear. I also like that the strap for the optics is will clip into the case, so that you don't have 2 straps to deal with. These binoculars were a great deal and I would recommend them.
  • Pros: very crisp and clear, cool case/binocular strap feature
  • Cons: none

Great Binocs

dank, opticsplanet.com
19 February 2012
  • Summary: These Vanguard 8.5 x 45's are da stuff. Great optics, like the Swiss surveying gear of the last century. We got the tripod and adapter, too. Now we have them set up in our living room, so we can look at the mountain lions, bears and coyotes from afar. That's how we like the carnivorous wildlife, far away. Not so much fun when they are sniffing around the condo and bothering the Dog...

gary, opticsplanet.com
29 November 2010
  • Summary: I have now been using the Endeavor ED binoculars for 3 months now and am more satisfied with my purchase every day. The clarity of the focus whether being used in the outdoors or inside my house looking through the window at a distant object is amazing.
  • Pros: Clarity, weight, sharpness of focus
  • Cons: none
