Fabulous glasses - except the neckstrap rivets

naturegrrl, opticsplanet.com
11 January 2012
  • Summary: I would absolutely and whole-heartedly recommend these binoculars, except for one small but critical weakness - the rivets that hold the neckstrap to the glasses. These broke off after only a few months of use, and did so suddenly, dropping my glasses on hard ground and distorting the alignment of the lenses to the point that the bins are now useless. I've submitted a request for repair/replacement, as they are supposedly covered by a 25 year warranty.
  • Pros: clear, sharp, comfortable, light
  • Cons: neckstrap rivets flimsy to the point of not functioning

great binocs - but fatal flow

shorebirder, opticsplanet.com
19 February 2011
  • Summary: I love Swift binoculars and my last pair lasted >15 years. I am an ornithologist and I use my binocs every day. I used this pair to study shorebirds and I was initially very impressed but within 2 weeks the pin that attaches the neck strap fell out, dumping the binocs into the sand. I tried to get it fixed locally and they said the hole was stripped. When I contacted the company they just referred me to a place where I could get it fixed.
  • Pros: relatively light, clear, easy focus
  • Cons: pin for neckstrap fell out - poorly manufactured

22 March 2008
  • Summary: I have owned a pair of these and birded with them constantly for about three years, and have had no problems with them whatsoever. Optically, they are excellent for the price, noticeably brighter than the benchmark of the class, the nikon monarch (which are also great--my parents own those).
  • Pros: Close Focus, Great ergonomics, Quality Lenses, Works Well With Glasses

Great buy

  • Summary: I purchased this bin along with Vortex Viper 10x42 and this [$]bin beat the [$] Viper. Swift is sharper than Viper especially in the center, Viper was a little sharper of axis but we all put objects in the center. Also swift is sharp in the 70% FOV. Both bins have good color renidition and similar brightness but swift is little better.

Swift problems

Anonymous, B&H Photo
5 May 2007
  • Summary: I bought 2 pairs of the Swift Ultra Lites 10x42. These represent my 3rd and 4th pair of Swift binoculars I own.The other being the 10x50 Kestrels which I love but needed something that's waterproof. These pair though have had nothing but problems since day 1.Optical they are very good but build quality is terrible. Problems Encountered: First day a clip that is needed to attach the strap arrived broken and had to wait for new ones.
