A must have

  • Excerpt: As far as a decent low light marine binocular goes this is one of the best. It is the set that everyone wants on the Sailing Club deck when watching racing and I rarely get to take them on water. I have four sets of binoculars and this set is by far the best. They are not light but are very sturdy. They feel like they could be dropped or slide off the galley table without doing any damage. The optics are where these things perform.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Excellent field of view, Great Low Light Glasses, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof
  • Cons: Eye Cup Holder Tricky, Eye Cup Removal

The best made better

  • Excerpt: The Steiner Commander XP is a truly amazing binocular. They exude quality. The optics are astounding clear and bright. I bought the Commander XPs for marine use where the superb optics allow you to see things in low light conditions that you could not see with any other binocular that I have found. The water shedding lenses are an added bonus in driving rain and spray. They are comfortable and easy to use.
  • Pros: Low light viewing, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof, Water Shedding Lenses, Well Balanced, Works Well With Glasses
  • Cons: None

  • Summary: I own another Steiner and consider this model an upgrade and I was not disappointed. the clarity on this model under any condition is fantastic. Only, caution is that Steiner's are not usually the lightest Binocular you can own, But, if you are not the most careful person and are very active and therefore subject to bumping and dropping then Steiner's are a great pair as they can certainly take the punishment
  • Pros: Excellent Clarity
  • Cons: Not the lightest

If your needs match the spec

  • Summary: I was lucky enough to receive a pair of these as a gift (which I had chosen myself). The Steiner Commander has a well recognized, and oft imitated, compact porro prism design with no central focusing. Once the eyepieces have been individually adjusted to the user's eyesight then the user's own eyes perform the focusing - in my experience I can focus from around 10 m to infinity. These binoculars are not useable for close viewing.

  • Summary: Gute Qualität und solide Verarbeitung, mit Liebe zum Detail. Verzichtet auf unnötigen Schnickschnack und ist einfach in der Handhabung. Jederzeit wieder.
