World's Finest Reading Glasses

Jhumbo, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: Most people might use binoculars to see something that is far away, but for an artist, seeing minute details on something that's just a few feet away can be a problem. The Pentax Papilio Binocular completely solves this problem, allowing a crystal-clear MAGNIFIED view of an object that's sitting on the table in front of you. I haven't tried using them to see anything far away, but if you have the same unusual need as I do, I recommend this unit highly.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses

...wow...surprised by what it does...

  • Excerpt: ...first off: I trust Pentax......very nice...does a great job of magnifying birds at my feeder, giving me a different perspective on faces and feathers...it's not a microscope vision, but a practical enlarged vision...and it is more than adequate at infinity......easily hand held (even for my grandson), "armored", adjusts smoothly, functions well with my eyeglasses...price is reasonable...

Novel and long needed binocular

Uncle Manny, B&H Photo
8 May 2013
  • Excerpt: This is one of those "Why didn't someone think of this before?" products. The clever design is a perfect product for the nature lover to carry along almost anywhere. Small, light, compact, and sharp, it makes observing details of a flower less than two feet away or zeroing in to identify the marking on a small bird 10 yards distant amazingly simple.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Annoying Eye Adjustment

good in museums

PRESTO, B&H Photo
12 September 2011
  • Excerpt: Low magnification, wide FOV, and exceptional close focusing make these like a portable, long-range microscope. Aside from their intended use for viewing insects, they are useful in a museum for picking up details on small objects within a glass case. I was very glad to have them in the Irish National Museum (Dublin) for viewing some of the extraordinary metalwork from the Celtic-early Christian era, such as the Cup of Armagh, the Tara Brooch, and the Cross of Cong.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses
  • Cons: Not Waterproof

  • Excerpt: Fantastic for viewing insects up close. You see amazing detail, even the little spines on beetles legs and the many eyes and hairy legs of spiders.
