Awesome

  • Excerpt: I got these at the recommendation of a fellow artist to see facial details when painting in a group where I can't get close to the subject. They are perfect for the job. The only thing not great is that everyone loves them and wants to borrow them. I let them try and then tell them to go to B & H. Great price, fast shipping and reliable.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses

Good Magnifying Binoculars

Pam, B&H Photo
23 August 2014
  • Excerpt: I am a naturalist and photographer. I bought these binoculars after reading about magnifying binoculars in Kate Marianchild's book Secret of the Oak Woodlands. These bring plants and insects and all wildlife right up close in sharp focus. They are also good for distance viewing. The optics are excellent for the price.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction

  • Excerpt: My wife has some vision issues and I bought this for her use in museums when she can't get close enough to scan paintings or sculptures. You don't need high power in such situations and this 6.5x binocular was ideal. Excellent construction and bright, clean optics. Was amazed at the quality built in for the price.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Convenient Carrying Case, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses

World's Finest Reading Glasses

Jhumbo, B&H Photo
6 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Most people might use binoculars to see something that is far away, but for an artist, seeing minute details on something that's just a few feet away can be a problem. The Pentax Papilio Binocular completely solves this problem, allowing a crystal-clear MAGNIFIED view of an object that's sitting on the table in front of you. I haven't tried using them to see anything far away, but if you have the same unusual need as I do, I recommend this unit highly.

...wow...surprised by what it does...

Vincent, B&H Photo
23 July 2013
  • Excerpt: ...first off: I trust Pentax......very nice...does a great job of magnifying birds at my feeder, giving me a different perspective on faces and feathers...it's not a microscope vision, but a practical enlarged vision...and it is more than adequate at infinity......easily hand held (even for my grandson), "armored", adjusts smoothly, functions well with my eyeglasses...price is reasonable...

Novel and long needed binocular

Uncle Manny, B&H Photo
8 May 2013
  • Excerpt: This is one of those "Why didn't someone think of this before?" products. The clever design is a perfect product for the nature lover to carry along almost anywhere. Small, light, compact, and sharp, it makes observing details of a flower less than two feet away or zeroing in to identify the marking on a small bird 10 yards distant amazingly simple.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Annoying Eye Adjustment
