Summary: I got these because I needed some close focusing binoculars for when I am carrying out bat surveys. These are really effective. Shine a torch on the subject/feature and you can readily focus in on the feature within a house, barn or tree etc. Really good. Because they are close focusing they are also good for insects when you are close up to them. They were recommended by my line manager, an ecologist and I think they are great.
Summary: Fantastic binoculars, for the price they are hard to beat, very bright, light and easy to focus. I had to decide between these and the 8.5x21, I am glad I went for these. I use them looking at all sorts of things plants, insects even birds in the garden, I have a small garden so it was hard to focus on birds on the feeders they just didn't focus close enough. All I can say it is one of those purchases I don't regret.
Summary: I cannot rate these binoculars highly enough, they are brilliant for butterfly and insect watching. The close focus on these is great, they are small and light, perfect for walking in the field. Considering the price, I just can't fault the optics.
Summary: As a Birder who switches to watching Inverts in the summer motnths, I fancied these for a while. So far I've not been dissapointed, allows excellent close up views of hoverflies, bee's etc. Also , do a decent job for checking the birds as well although I would not reccomend them for this as there primary use. If you are keen on studying invertebrates, you probably need a pair of these.Nice and light too.
Summary: New house with land, which we are gradually turning into wildlife "paradise". Item recommended by our local Wildlife Trust. Bought these binoculars for husband for Christmas - he is very pleased. Very prompt delivery, safely packaged - thoroughly recommend this seller.
Summary: These are super binoculars as described the the other reviews above. There are a couple of additional things worthy of mention. First is that unlike some other types, because of their design, the eyepieces hold their position well, so you don't waste time adjusting them to fit the distance between your eyes each time you look through them. Likewise, the diopter adjustment is on click stops so once it's set its position isn't easily lost either.
Summary: very pleased with these little binoculars. Light and easy to carry, optically very clear and perfect for looking at butterflies , insects and flowers. Good too for distance, though the field of view is a little narrow for fast moving objects (eg birds). Overall excellent, and amazing value for money.
Summary: I was introduced to these binoculars by a friend and they are brilliant, light, easy to use and the quality is great. The first pair I have been able to view through without painful eyes, and the close focus lens fantastic. I am shortsighted and use these for details on paintings, buildings and wildlife.
Summary: I finally ditched my old binoculars after the rubber coating perished, and looked round for something better. Previous binos were a pain. By the time I'd removed my specs, lifted the nocs, lined them up and focussed; the birds or whatever had often buzzed off. Then there was the need to keep the eyepieces pressed to my eyebrows and carefully aligned to both eyes if I was to see anything at all. All that is in the past now since I stumbled on the Pentax Papilios.
